Yes another Battlefront question.
In an introductory cutscene, TIE bombers are depicted as being used by Imperial forces against Gizor Dellso's fleet. One of the mission objectives or tasks in that parrticular campaign, is to use "bombers" to attack the captal ship. Obviously the clone is referrring to the TIE bombers at your disposal.
Since Battle of Mustafar took place sometime during the first decade of imperial rule, is it canon to have TIE bombers in the imperial fleet at that time? 40 Year Old Virgin 04:56, August 12, 2011 (UTC)
Were TIE bombers even built during the first decade of imperial rule? 184.108.40.206 07:19, August 12, 2011 (UTC)
I've just looked at the TIE/sa bomber article and it says they were in use as early as 18 BBY, when used to bomb Belsavis. I have Children of the Jedi and I'm pretty sure no 'TIE' bombers are mentioned. Just "bombers". Could be ARC-170s for all we know. However that book was written before Lucas even wrote the prequels. Still, the article sounds a little erroneous to me. But then canonically, the Imps would have had ARCs at the time they fought Dellso on Mustafar as well, so whatever. 40 Year Old Virgin 08:27, August 12, 2011 (UTC)
I can confirm the absence of any mention of "TIE bombers" in Children, only Skipray Blastboats. Does Battlefront actually visually show or verbally mention TIE Bombers specifically? If so, I think that would be their actual first canonical appearance.DD97Which bear is best? 14:16, August 12, 2011 (UTC)
If the article says that they were in use as early as 18 BBY, it means that their appearance in Battlefront 2 is canon. 220.127.116.11 19:24, August 12, 2011 (UTC)
I think the article is wrong and needs to be changed. Mara Jade says in the book COTJ in chapter 12, pg 184 of the paperback ; "A fighter wing was sent to Belsavis, interceptors mostly, fast but light". I think elsewhere it mentions "bombing", but not sure about "bombers". Han Solo even makes a comment on how the imperials had not sent an assault wing, though he was surveying damage about 30 years after the fact.
The battlefront appearance seems 'on purpose'. TIE bombers are shown in combat during a cutscene before the space battle campaign against Dellso's fleet. Then used as part of a mission objective. The level of the game is called "Preventative Measures". The next level, "Tying Up Loose Ends" is the surface assault on the mining facility on Mustafar. I have changed many related articles that state the battle took place in 12 BBY and one that even said 11 BBY. This is complete bunk! There is no date given. It simply puts the Battle of Mustafar between 18 BBY, sometime after the Battle of Naboo and sometime before the renegade clone uprising on Kamino in 12 BBY. Someone please let me know if they have another source. 40 Year Old Virgin 03:54, August 13, 2011 (UTC)
