in return of the jedi, luke askes Leia to tell him about her mother... leia replys...
Just a little bit. She died when I was very
Just images, really. Feelings.
She was very beautiful. Kind, but sad.
is she refering to her adopted mother?
Watch it again. Luke specifically says, "your real mother". Wedgeantillesfan 00:37, September 4, 2010 (UTC)
yes... but she died in childbirth... unless she can remember these brief moments of her mother because leia herself is force sensitive??outsidevenus
Leia probably had force visions of her mother, as in dreams. because the force can also give you visions of the past or it could have been Padme in a alternate future as Empress and she was sad because of it. Grand Master Kolesar 23:01, September 4, 2010 (UTC)
Is there any canonical proof that Leia ever knew she was adopted (until Episode VI)? It's possible that when Luke asked "do you remember your mother? Your real mother?" that in her head she thought "...as opposed to my fake mother? What other mother could he be referring to?" and then talked about Breha. prehaps she was aware she was adopted. but did not know her liniage? outsidevenus
Leia's Databank entry specifically states that she is remembering Padmé, and that her adoption was common knowledge in the Alderaanian court—I take that means Leia herself was aware she was adopted. As far as I know, there hasn't been any official explanation as to how Leia can remember her birth mother, but there's of course a number of fan theories. Tinwe 11:25, September 12, 2010 (UTC)
In Revenge of the Sith, in the sceen where the twins are born, Luke's eyes are closed, but you can see that Leia's are open. (it's also written in the young reader noveliaziton.) I've also read Balance Point. That's the book where Mara discovers she is pregnat. She (and later Jacen) can sense the baby LONG before we would be able to, specifically because of their powers. So, it may be a strech for us, that a five-minute-old infant have (repeating) memories but that doesn't have to make it impossible.
