Why did the Jedi not sense the Sith!? I mean Plagues, Palpatine's Master, and Palpatine himself were right in front of the Jedi. Many Sith were probable right under the Jedi's nose. Were they just too blinded? Its like "Duh! A Sith is under your nose!" Sorry about spelling... —Unsigned comment by 76.85.160.122 (talk • contribs).
- A lot of it (at least, from the explanation that's been given in canon) has to do with the fact that the Sith were masters of concealment, so when Jedi like Yoda attempted to look into the Force, their vision was clouded. You can check out material like Darth Plagueis to find out more from the Sith's POV. CC7567 (talk) 03:58, February 14, 2014 (UTC)
- I will ignore the fact you brought up that novel, and instead point to the movies. "The Dark Side clouds everything," were Yoda's words. This may lead to the question if their is a deeper root in the Force that eases the difficulty for Darth Sidious to hide and other Sith. Also, in the Thrawn Trilogy there is the consideration that the strong presence of the Dark Side in a place could conceal a Jedi. This is evidenced by the fighting between the Dark Jedi Xanatos and Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan, where it was said the energy around them felt neutral, neither light nor dark, in the Force. Furthermore, when a Jedi escapes the Empire in a Dark Side infested location, if the Dark Side has growing strength or presence to conceal Sith, when so strong a hiding place such as the Tree Cave on Dagobah or a Sith Tomb with the Dark Side exists, their power to conceal Jedi may expand. And yes...Go ahead. Recognize that their is some speculation here, some fact, and some logic. Mull over this on your own time. Goodday99.188.36.80 22:40, February 14, 2014 (UTC)
- ^ wait, what? Not sure what this is saying at all. I think CC's got the right answer though. The Darth Plagueis novel also talks about Darth Tenebrous' master creating a tear in the fabric of the Force that the Sith then exploit to remain hidden. 129.59.115.25 18:51, February 17, 2014 (UTC)
- Nevermind. What you should remember though is the Dark Side "clouds everything". The idea of negative energy and positive energy neutralizing themselves is proposed for how Yoda stayed hidden next to that "domain of evil" on Dagobah in the Thrawn Trilogy. And the Dark Side is referred to in a very concealing sense in the movies without the Darth Plagueis novel. There is also a way to mess up with powers of concealment, or still be detected. But yes...A Sith could hide their Dark Side power like that book mentioned, as well as the Darth Bane trilogy. I didn't explain it well, but I meant is was possible that the larger Dark Side than the power of an individual Sith could have been the "shroud" referenced in Episode II and other places, and the ability of the Jedi to use the Force has been diminished, like Master Windu once said. I was simply speculating that instead of a mere ritual or Sith power it was the lack of balance in the Force which hid the Sith. Evil has the upper hand because things are unbalanced. This is alluded to a few times, that the Jedi grow weaker, the Sith stronger, yet the Dark Side will NEVER be stronger.99.188.36.80 20:30, February 17, 2014 (UTC)
