Why did Leia decide to seek out Obi-Wan after operation Skyhook? Why was Obi-Wan suddenly important to her after so many years during which he was a "hermit" on Tatooine? What was his role to be in the mission before Tantive IV was intercepted by Immortal?
Why, it's almost as if they just lost a Jedi or two and needed a replacement... (the preceding is a whole cloth supposition, and not to be taken as canon)DD97Which bear is best? 04:19, November 16, 2011 (UTC)
The princess must have had the bright idea of sending the plans to Tatooine with R2, to find Kenobi, rather than risk giving them to more rebels, who were getting their butts kicked. 188.8.131.52 06:42, November 17, 2011 (UTC)
I'm wondering also, why she was in orbit over Tatooine anyway. What was her business there?
If I remember correctly, in the radio drama, contacting Obi-Wan was her father's idea184.108.40.206 07:48, November 18, 2011 (UTC)
Questioning your response, Taral, how were the rebels able to intercept the transmission of the death star plans? Wouldn't it be on an extra secure channel that no one could hack? And why, in the first place, were the plans being transmitted? Transporting it manually and discreetly would have ensured it not falling into the wrong hands.MaxReebo 17:20, November 18, 2011 (UTC)
Sorry, I was unclear. In the game, the Rebels had stolen the plans already (from Danuta, Polis Massa, via Toprawa and Ralltiir, etc.). The Rebels transmitted the Plans to Tantive IV via a relay station orbiting Tatooine (but it was essentially Rebels transmitting information to other Rebels, not Rebels hacking an Imperial transmission). Regarding transmission vs. hand delivery, the original Episode IV film already established that the Plans were transmitted to the Tantive IV. Vader accused Princess Leia of having Rebel spies transmit top secret plans to her. Taral, Dark Lord of the Sith-Just shy, not antisocial: You can talk to me!- 18:10, November 18, 2011 (UTC)
