This is sort of a silly question, but I was wondering, were there any winged aircraft in the Star Wars universe? I'm talking airplanes, like in real life, not repulsorlift ships. It would probably be considered a primitive form of transport, but after seeing the Car article, it made me wonder. I'm guessing the ewok glider comes closest? - Not exactly what you're looking for, but I seem to recall something akin to zeppelins or blimps in the last couple Lost Tribe of the Sith stories. — DigiFluid(Whine here) 23:32, August 27, 2013 (UTC)
- Repulsorlifts are so cheap and efficient, it rarely makes sense for people to rely on airfoils (which, in comparison to repulsorlifts, are quite limited) to support their craft. That said, there are several atmosphere-only craft with wings, like early models of the Z-95 Headhunter or the K-222 aero-interceptor. jSarek (talk) 08:50, August 28, 2013 (UTC)
- This Quote of the Day makes reference to "an atmospheric fighter without repulsorlifts" in a simile. That's the only reference to non-repulsorlift winged aircraft in Star Wars that I know of. —MJ— War Room 05:21, August 30, 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for that info all. That was an interesting quote Jonathan. So it does seem they do at least have some conventional aircraft, but are very rare. Then again, the Invisible Hand did crash land on a long runway on Coruscant... implying such aircraft much exist. I did some searching and noticed the Jet-wing seems liked a contender for a typical aircraft. StarsiderSWG (talk) 04:04, August 31, 2013 (UTC)
- Much of the technology use by the Ganathans had wings, although it is unclear if they had repulsorlifts as well. Check out images from Dark Empire II for examples. ~Savage 21:44, September 2, 2013 (UTC)
