I was reading on the page of Darth Plagueis, and it was talking about how he and Sidious tried to create a sith being like thing by modifying the midichlorians. Then it said: "The experiment yielded unfruitful however, and the midi-chlorians, unwilling to comply, not only denied Plagueis' efforts, but struck back in retaliation, conceiving a savior to ultimately destroy the Sith: the prophesied Chosen One, Anakin Skywalker. " OK. So if Anakin Skywalker was the chosen one and was supposed to destroy the Sith, then how come after he died there was still the Sith going around? Thanks The Awesome X!
- Wait, where did you read this quote from?173.245.64.79 04:00, February 23, 2012 (UTC)
- Er...s/he just said, they read it in Darth Plagueis.
- To the OP: I think there's some mis-reading going on here, all around. In-universe, the prophecy of the Chosen One appears to have referred to a being who would "restore the balance" of the Force.
- To the Jedi, dogmatic champions of the light side, they simply assumed that this meant that the Sith would be destroyed–in accordance with their view that 'light=balance' and 'dark=cancerous twisting of the Force'
- With our recently-expanded understanding of the history of the Force, we might counter-suppose that "bringing balance" meant restoring the use of the Force to how it was done in the ancient times
- Out-of-universe, George Lucas's view of the Force is the same as the Jedi Order's
- Regardless of which position you prefer, Vader/Anakin slaying Palpatine seems to have satisfied them.
- In the Order of the Sith Lords, there are only two Sith at any given time and any others are no more than pretenders or dark acolytes or what-have-you. So, in turning away from the dark side and killing the then-only Sith, he fulfilled the Prophecy from the Jedi Order's POV.
- With the Chosen One (Anakin) having destroyed the dogmatic orders of both Jedi and Sith, the Force 'field' was wide open, with no ruling authority in either camp to claim supremacy
- In George Lucas's eyes, his creations are the only "real" Star Wars. So when Anakin turned back to the light and slayed Palpatine, there were no dark-siders left.
- Isn't the EU fun? Heh. – DigiFluid 13:48, February 23, 2012 (UTC)
