I just want to know why we use the term non-canon when all the other sci-fi shows call these situations alternate timelines. For example the infinities comics and the ultimate sith edition Tatooine and Hoth levels The dark endings for KOTOR and Dark Forces II can also be considered this.User:Revanthereformer1138
- Because they are not alternate timelines or something like that. There's not like there is a "multiverse" featuring one main timeline and several spinoffs - there is one and only one continuity. Non-canon articles arise when authors decide to make some weird stories for fun without breaking the continuity, those stories and the content within them, while official, have no bearing on the continuity at all. Oh, yeah, and we call them non-canon instead of "alternate timeline" because official sources say so. You may also note that Star Wars is not sci-fi and should not be compared to other sci-fi shows. Transformers Wiki may have 8 articles for Optimus Prime, DC wiki may have 25 articles on Batman and Marvel wiki may have 40 articles on Jean Gray, but Wookieepedia has one article on Han Solo and will always have one. No alternate timelines, no alternate universe. That's what attracts a multitude of EU fans after all. MauserComlink 20:31, October 17, 2009 (UTC)
