Mace's shift from blue to purple saber has from what I've gathered been explained by the Concordance of Fealty he had with Eeth Koth. This took place early in the Emissaries to Malastare comics. Later in the same series, Mace wields a blue one, meaning that the one he gave to Koth must have been his purple one. However, Mace wielded a blue one before that, and the Concordance "ceremony" at the beginning of the series makes it clear that they are returning each others sabers, not swapping them. Which again means that the blue one was his all along.
What am I missing here? Did both have blue sabers to begin with, and if so, what happened to the purple one he constructed on Hurikane? How could he have two sabers at once? And if both had blue, what was the point of introducing the Concordance of Fealty in the first place? I'm terribly confused about this thing. DarthMRN 12:04, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
No, no, no. The purple one has nothing to do with it. The Concordance was invented to solve an entirely DIFFERENT pre-AOTC lightsaber issue. Basically, promotional shots of Mace showed him with two different lightsaber handles - one, shall we say labelled "demi-maul" (as it appeared to be Darth Maul's saber chopped in half) and "funky" (had a sort of retro handle). Both of these sabers were BLUE. The electrum purple saber is a totally different issue. He built it early on, but didn't use it until AOTC. QuentinGeorge 12:10, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
Specifically, read here (scroll down to "concordance of fealty". QuentinGeorge 12:13, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
That helps. So, he just made a new blue one while keeping the old purple one, swapped the new one with Koth, got it back later, then suddenly decided the purple one was good stuff again in time for AOTC. Oh, the wonders of canon, how I love thee... DarthMRN 12:23, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
