Hi, a question - what is the editing threshold before an editor is permitted to upload images? I'm only an occasional contributor, but would like to make good-faith image additions to articles. I'd just like to get an idea of how much more I have to contribute before I can become a trusted editor. Thanks. Protocoldroid (talk) 15:41, August 2, 2017 (UTC)

  • I think you have to make 50 edits to articles (not including talkpages etc) before you can upload images --Lewisr (talk) 15:55, August 2, 2017 (UTC)
  • Per the Special Uploads page header: To upload files, you must have: (1) an account that is at least four days old; (2) at least fifty edits on Wookieepedia; and (3) a confirmed email address in your preferences. If you don't meet those requirements, our system will prevent you from uploading files until you do. <-Omicron(Leave a message at the BEEP!) 16:49, August 2, 2017 (UTC)
Thanks - I guess why I'm confused is that I have 159 edits, and have had a login since 2006. So I'm a bit confused...? Admittedly my activity has been dormant for a couple of years and I'm only a sporadic contributor. Any ideas? Protocoldroid (talk) 17:32, August 2, 2017 (UTC)
Just to clarify: (1) my account is 11 years old; (2) I have well over 50 edits on Wookieepedia; and (3) my email address has been confirmed. So my question is: why do I not have image upload permissions? Protocoldroid (talk) 11:17, August 3, 2017 (UTC)
Hi, you indeed meet all the criteria for uploading images. However, due to a Wikia bug, the AbuseFilter software reports your editcount as being 7. I filed a ticket with Wikia about this a month ago, but apparently it still hasn't been resolved. I've filed a new ticket about the issue and will keep you posted if/when I receive a reply. Hi, thanks for the reply. "Abuse Filter" sounds a bit concerning - did I offend someone at some point? Well, if you could let me know that would be great thanks. :-) Protocoldroid (talk) 14:31, August 5, 2017 (UTC)
AbuseFilter is just the name of the software. It allows us to create filters that prevent users who meet certain conditions from performing certain actions. Simply triggering a filter doesn't necessarily mean your actions were harmful—even I trip filters sometimes. But I'll let you know if/when I receive a reply from Wikia regarding this. 1358 (Talk) 13:01, August 6, 2017 (UTC)
This now appears to be fixed. AbuseFilter now shows your editcount at 40, which I assume is the amount of edits you've made since the fix went live. If you make 10 more edits, you should be able to upload images. Please let us know if you still get an error. Hi there User:Xd1358. Thanks for looking into this - I have made over 10 edits since we last discussed this problem, but the system still will not allow me to upload files. It's accusing me of abuse! This is a really flaky and difficult system to use - I am trying to make good faith edits but I am being blocked at every attempt. What do I need to do? • Since Wikia is seemingly unable to fix this, I've decided to just exempt you from the filter altogether, hopefully without breaking the filter completely. You should now be able to upload files. Amusingly, your editcount is now showing as 49 in AbuseFilter, but... yeah, try uploading now. 1358 (Talk) 10:12, September 28, 2017 (UTC)
Thank you so much!!! At last - I've been trying to make this site for literally years. Now at least I can start making some updates. Thanks again. Protocoldroid (talk) 14:56, September 28, 2017 (UTC)
