Ive gotten a series of insulting messages from a user. how do i go about reporting them? than you JediBob 02:19, 1 August 2008 (UTC)

  • This is where you do it. Taking a look at the messages, the tone may be a bit harsher than necessary, but it is a fact that the images you've been uploading are low-quality, and if you continue to ignore warnings, you will eventually be blocked permanently. Darth Culator is an administrator, so his warnings on the subject can be considered official. —Silly Dan (talk) 02:28, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
    • We prefer good quality images: screen captures from DVDs or officially released promotional images. We'll have no image in place of a poor one. We understand you're trying to help, and Darth Culator was a little rude for someone giving an official warning. But it was an official warning. -- SFH 02:43, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
      • how do we determine if the images are "crappy"? the blocking should be for people who are causing trouble! Not people who are trying to help the site! how are we supposed to know if the quality is "crappy"? I got the images from the clone wars novel! We should be able to edit the stie without having fear of being banned! JediBob 16:14, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
  • Take a look at the pictures of around the site to determine what good quality images are. The images you posted were rathery grainy and badly cropped. Just use common sense. -- SFH 16:44, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
    • I know. But users just shouldnt get banned permentlty for uploading pictures! That doesnt make since! That punishment should be for vandals. anyways, can someone please give me a link to the rules that say that crappy images are not allowed? I would like to know the rules so i will know what images to upload and which to not. thank youJediBob 19:54, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
      • Try Wookieepedia:Images. And SFH's radical common sense idea. Green Tentacle (Talk) 21:40, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
        • Okay, i read it, but the only time it mentions being banned is if it is from Photobucket or other image sources. And the quality thing, says the highest quality availible. How do you suggest we get images out of books?

And, say I have an image that i want to upload is there any place where I can post it before putting it on an article where the admins can ok it? JediBob 18:22, 2 August 2008 (UTC)

        • It seems as though Culator went and deleted EVERY SINGLE image i ever uploaded on this site, on the 1st!!!

ONE of which he said it was an Unsourced image when i clearly put the source. why are they being deleted? I was asked to put some of the image on the site. JediBob 18:29, 2 August 2008 (UTC)

  • OK, you seem to be getting kind of hung up on your "it's not fair to ban somebody for this" point. What you need to keep in mind is that the entire page that Green Tentacle pointed you to is an official Wookieepedia policy. If you violate an official policy, typically you'll get a warning first (which is what Darth Culator did - he wasn't exactly polite about it, but it was a warning), and if you continue to violate that policy, you'll usually get a block. Just because only one part of a policy specifies that you can be blocked or banned for violating it, that doesn't mean that you won't receive the same disciplinary action for violating another part of the policy. Also, you seem to be upset that the ban - if imposed - would likely be permanent. The only reason why you were told that it would likely be a permanent ban instead of a temporary block is because you've already had several temporary blocks, and the admins generally will do a permanent ban if they've had to temporarily block somebody several times before. I'm sorry to have to tell you this, but Darth Culator, while he may have presented it in a fairly abrasive manner which I don't find to be particularly mature, was acting well within his duties as an admin. Seriously, the guy knows his policies, and from what I've seen he's not polite, but he is fair. If he gives you a warning or advice, you should really listen to it. I hope you take this in the spirit in which it was intended - I'm really trying to help you out here. Doluk 18:53, 2 August 2008 (UTC)
    • I understand that, but i went back and checked and Culator went of a "JediBob image deleting frenzy" and deleted my images that have been on the sites for months! that is un called for. Here is the list of all the images of mine that i have uploaded over the past year that he deleted in an hours timeframe yesterday.

One of which he said was unsourced, and I CLEARLY put the source of the image. With all due respect, it looks as though he just wanted to get me mad by deleting all my images. Im not trying to start anything, but I just wanted you to see what he did to a years worth of my work. Please let me knwo what you think. Thank you all, and have a Wookiee-tastic day =) JediBob 19:03, 2 August 2008 (UTC)

  • Culator deletes images every day, and he was enforcing policy; you can't possibly fault him for that. But seriously, these kinds of threads don't help at all. If you have a serious problem with Culator, I would suggest approaching another admin whom you trust via email and discussing it with him or her behind closed doors. -- AdmirableAckbar (Talk) 19:31, 2 August 2008 (UTC)
  • Basically, he went on a "JediBob image deleting frenzy" because your recent activities made him question what he might have overlooked. From what I can tell, it's likely he simply made a mistake when stating the reason for deleting Kenobigear.jpg - you did state the source (though you didn't use the template listed RIGHT ON THE IMAGE UPLOAD PAGE, so it wouldn't be a surprise if he might have missed it), but the quality was so low as to be pretty much unusable, just as many of your other images have been. I would suggest discussing with Culator ways of improving the quality of images you upload, and using the template on the upload page (the thing in the gray box that starts with ==Summary==) filled out to the best of your ability describing your images. jSarek 05:52, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
