I'm not sure if this is the right place for the topic of this message—it might fall under dispute resolution—but I would like to bring to your attention a user by the name of Sam sparrow. This user has a history of issues when it comes to sourcing, adhering to the NPOV policy and avoiding edit wars, all of which are indicated by his talk page and edit history. For the last several months, other users and I have spent a great deal of effort addressing the POV-based edits he made to certain pages relating to Jedi topics, particularly Ahsoka Tano, Mace Windu, and the Jedi High Council. He clearly sympathizes with Ahsoka and has a negative outlook on the Jedi Council, which he indicated on his own talk page. There's nothing wrong with that, except those views have continued to influence his edits concerning Ahsoka's trial and fallout with the Jedi. After some time, it seemed like he understood what multiple users have told him, and we have provided him with helpful sources such as the NPOV and Sourcing pages, but from time to time he still makes POV-ish edits and continues to create invalid reference tags. Just recently he added this to the Obi-Wan Kenobi article, stating that Ahsoka was "Clearly hurt by the Council's lack of trust and support," which is a POV statement unless it is backed up by a source.
The larger issue here is that, despite the resources I've shown him to help improve his understanding of site policies, he continues to make these mistakes. Of course, I don't expect perfection and mistakes will inevitably happen, but what's frustrating is that he keeps making the same mistakes over and over, despite claiming to understand or promising to do better. I've tried to be very helpful to him, even though I think he's been here long enough to understand how things work around here, and yet I find that he still has trouble following the policies which he has been asked to pay closer attention to. His personal views on the Jedi Council and Ahsoka influenced his edits for months, which led to edit wars across multiple pages. I don't want to see him get blocked because I don't think he's intentionally breaking the NPOV or sourcing policies, but I don't know what else to do at this point as it seems like it's just going to go on indefinitely where he fails to correctly verify his information, or breaks the NPOV policy on Jedi-related articles, and then someone has to fix those articles. And that's pretty much the cycle that has repeated itself when it comes to Sam sparrow. It's not just me. As I indicated, other users such as AnilSerifoglu and Lewisr have had disputes with him in regards to the issues I mentioned, such as NPOV and Sourcing. JRT2010 (talk) 00:01, April 13, 2017 (UTC)
- I need to revise my statement. I should have read the edit history on the Obi-Wan Kenobi article more carefully as that line I mentioned ("Clearly Ahsoka was hurt…") because it was not Sam who added it. I stand by the rest of what I said, but I should mention that he has shown improvement in recent months. However, I still think he has difficulty with Sourcing, despite my attempts to help him in that area. JRT2010 (talk) 02:57, April 13, 2017 (UTC)
