I don't think think this was brought up in an article but in " The empire strikes back" when luke left dagobah to help han and leah on Cloud city, obi-wan said to yoda that he was as stubborn as luke when he was yoda's padawan. When was he Yoda's padawan? Wasn't Qui-gon his master ever since obi-wan was a little kid?Sithmaster15 19:37, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
Obi-Wan was a youngling before a Padawan, which was when he trained under Yoda. Just like the Bear Clan in Episode II. Grand Moff Tranner(Comlink) 19:42, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, but it seemed like he was talking about the "whole time" when he said it to him.Sithmaster15 20:56, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
That was how it seemed before, but the storyline got changed. —Silly Dan(talk) 23:12, 16 July 2008 (UTC)
The quote you're talking about can be re-interpreted too. If I remember correctly, the line is:
Yoda: You are reckless!
Obi-Wan: So was I, if you remember.
That does not necessary mean that Obi-Wan was Yoda's apprentice the ENTIRE time. It may mean (in fact, canonically does mean) that Obi-Wan's Master was in contact with Yoda and at some point told him of how reckless young Obi-Wan was. Taral, Dark Lord of the Sith 15:56, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
Taral, I think the reference is Obi-Wan's quote to Luke on Hoth - "You will go to the Dagobah system. There you will find Yoda, the Jedi Master who trained me." I think Tranner has the main point. Luke was still a youngling-level Force-user when Obi-Wan surrendered himself to the Force, so Yoda would make sense to be the first teacher Jedi experienced. Then things progressed, and were altered, per Dan. Also, remember that Obi-wan would still be learning about the Fore once he became a Jedi Knight. It's possible Yoda spent time teaching him after Qui-Gon. Darth Xadún(Consult the Holocron) 08:21, 18 July 2008 (UTC)
Jedi are trained their whole childhoods, but padawans are not chosen for quite a few years. If you read the Jedi Apprentice series, you'll see that Obi-Wan was not chosen by Qui-Gon until he was about twelve or thirteen. Before that point, Yoda and other masters were in charge of training the children. So Yoda had trained Obi-Wan in all the basics before he was chosen by Qui-Gon.--Hobbie 02:04, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
