Forums > Senate Hall archive > Regarding User Talk Pages

I noticed on an article's discussion page that someone mentioned that deleting conversations that you've had on your own talk page was forbidden on this wiki.

While I'm certain that this question has been addressed at some point in the past, I was not able to find an official answer in the policies section from "about wookieepedia" regarding user talk pages.

So, can someone link the page that outlines this particular policy?

Thanks! --School of Thrawn 101 10:24, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

  • Interesting. I'ev always assumed that it was a rule here, but never looked for an official policy. Anyway, a lot of people clean up their talk pages and move old discussions to talk archives. I think that's permissible. KEJ 10:27, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
  • There's no official policy, no, but as a courtesy to other users we generally ask that you keep any messages posted on your page, and archive if it gets too big. It helps with tracing conversations, ensuring users get messages/warnings etc. QuentinGeorge 10:37, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
  • However, if someone removes content from their talk page, someone usually rvs it. :P tzzA 10:48, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
    • ...and who's to stop them? That is the ultimate glory of a wiki, to be fair. --School of Thrawn 101 11:34, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
      • That's what admins are for, if necessary. —Xwing328(Talk) 16:40, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
        • What do you mean, exactly? --School of Thrawn 101 16:44, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
          • Um...that we might revert a talk page "wipe" if he feel it is necessary, such as when a user has been warned for vandalism and erases the message. —Xwing328(Talk) 17:14, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
            • I see. Of course, the user is always capable of re-"wipe"ing the page after you've reverted it. I seem to have found the answer to my question: there is, in fact, no official policy regarding the "wipe"ing of a user's personal talk page. Thanks for the info. --School of Thrawn 101 05:09, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
