This page is an archive of a community-wide discussion. This page is no longer live. Further comments or questions on this topic should be made in a new Senate Hall page rather than here so that this page is preserved as a historic record. This is something I couldn't track down in the Help pages, but it's possible I missed it in there. I was pretty certain there was a way we can archive part of the posts on our personal talk pages. Can that be done? I'd like to shorten the page, but I know we're not supposed to just delete what's there.
Thanks for any help! --JMM (talk) 13:19, May 9, 2013 (UTC)
- Of course. What I would do first is to copy and paste your talk messages into Word or notepad. Your archive page will be at User talk:JMM/archive1. Create it and dump the talk page messages there. After you save it, you could link the archive page in your main talk page. Hope that helps man. JangFett (Talk) 14:11, May 9, 2013 (UTC)
- What I do is open the talk page edit window, add a redlink to the new archive to my list of archives, preview the page, open the new link in a new tab, cut everything from the main talk page, paste it directly into the new page, and save both pages. And you can name the archive whatever you want, as long as it is a subpage of either your user page or user talk page. So you could call it "/archive1" (as Jang suggested), "/Archive1", "/Archive 1", "/Archive the First", or even "/Archive I: The Phantom Messages" or anything else you want. —MJ— Holocomm 23:00, May 9, 2013 (UTC)
