I've recently been looking through some of the newer issues of The Official Star Wars Fact File (2014) and found that it's begun to include a lot of articles on Star Wars Rebels and other new canon content like the comic series Star Wars: Darth Maul—Son of Dathomir. These articles seem to include some pieces of unique and new content. For example, issue 72 contains information about Stygeon Prime which I don't think is repeated elsewhere, including its diameter and a slightly more detailed description of the Spire, meanwhile issue 68 reveals that Sabine's helmet was inherited and so she hasn't modified it at all plus describes her receiving Mandalorian warrior training as a child under Almec's government before even entering the Imperial Academy. I could have missed this information being included in some other source—and would be thankfully for anyone pointing out if I have—but if it is unique then how should we handle it? The other content in the fact files uses large amounts of information from legends, but not necessarily more than Ultimate Star Wars or Star Wars: Absolutely Everything You Need to Know did and seems to have stopped including any information based on the legends timeline (i.e New Republic or Old Republic) along time ago. Currently neither legends nor canon articles seem to have been updated with most of the information from the fact files and so I was wondering what our stance was on them and where this new information should be included? I've attempted to ask the magazine's official twitter account for clarification but as usual it has been to no avail, although a tweet from the offical account may receive more attention. - The uncertainty regarding the status of those new Fact Files is the reason why I haven't been documenting them here on WP: I just don't know what to make of them. However, we definitely should use them for something, given that the do include new lore. --LelalMekha (talk) 09:10, October 25, 2015 (UTC)
- The same applies for the Star Wars: Build the Millennium Falcon and the Star Wars Helmets Collection, the later of which isn't documented anywhere on Wookieepedia at all. Build the Falcon similarly started before April 25 with Legends included but now contains Rebels material and no legends, whereas the Helmets collection seems to contain no legends at all and started in April of this year. Given this, I feel that the helmet collection at the very least can be used as a canon source since the rule was generally that anything after April 2014 would be canon. Is there some kind of De Agostini equivalent to Jennifer Heddle we could email or tweet about this concerning all three? I can't even work out who the authors are for any of the different magazines. - Thing is, you and I have already brought up that very same issue earlier... and we didn't hear much from other editors, let alone major editors. I'd like to hear some more opinions! --LelalMekha (talk) 14:36, October 25, 2015 (UTC)
- I've asked on IRC and will again in future, but for now I'm going to start adding the information from the just the Fact Files' Rebels articles. The information should be included somewhere here, and if people disagree they can move it to where they see fit or join the discussion. Logically in my mind though new info on Rebels characters from an officially licensed source belongs in their canon articles. Ayrehead02 (talk) 17:31, October 25, 2015 (UTC)
