Missing "Talk:" prefix in RCs

[[File:Recent changes namespace bug.png|150px|thumb|Screenshot of the namespace bug]] I was looking at the RCs and Talk:Jobin was listed as just plain "Jobin". This is confusing.   • I just saw the opposite issue: an article listed as its talk page. Screenshot on the right; you can clearly see what appears to be two listings of the same page, but clicking "diff" on the second one brings up the article, not the talk page. Unable to create-protect

I'm trying to create-protect [[:File:Images.jpg]], but when I click "protect" I get edit-, move-, and upload-protection options instead. Attempting to use those options on a non-existent page returns an error message. Why isn't it showing me the option of create-protection? I also notice that the deletion log entry still shows the page with a blue link on Special:Recentchanges, though it is red on Special:Log/delete. —MJ— ^{Training Room} 17:19, November 14, 2012 (UTC)

According to someone — it might have been Grunny — it's a caching issue that prevents newly deleted pages from being protected. Same goes for the apparent redlink issue. Give it some time and see if it gets fixed. 1358 ^(Talk) 18:16, November 14, 2012 (UTC)

No JavaScript or images on Firefox 16

I'm getting almost no images, just blank spaces the size of the image, and absolutely no JavaScript is loading. Vista/Monobook/Firefox 16.0.2. IE9 does not have this problem. Anybody else seeing this? —MJ— _Comlink 23:28, November 23, 2012 (UTC)

RSS feed

• The RSS feed from Wookieepedia NewsNet that's displayed on the Main Page is cutting off all NewsNet post titles after an apostrophe. For example, "Tinwe: May's Wookieepedian of the Month" is just showing up as "Tinwe: May" . Menkooroo (talk) 21:26, June 26, 2012 (UTC)

Notes and references pointing me in the wrong direction

• Latest version of Firefox, Windows XP and Vista (has happened on two different computers), Monobook. If I'm browsing the "Notes and references" section of an article and I click on a ref, it should take me to that ref's position in the article, but it doesn't. It takes me to the wrong ref entirely. Weirdly enough, if it's a ref note that appears multiple times, clicking on one of the various incarnations (eg 4.0, 4.1, 4.2) will take me to the right place, but if it's a ref note that appears once, clicking on the arrow will lead me astray. For example, in today's Featured article, Brooks Carlson, clicking on the arrow next to refs [8], [9], [10], and [11] takes me to where ref [3] is in the article. Ref [3] is the first reference that only appears once. It seems to have taken over all of the other references that only appear once. I get the same problem with other articles, too --- the first ref note that only appears once is the one to which I get pointed whenever I click on any reference note that only appears once. Weird rollback problem

I've encountered this on here and on another wiki. When I go to rollback an edit, the rollback is successful, but I'm given the message that it failed because it was already rolled back by me. I just encountered this on another wiki, so I'll copy/paste what it said there.

Rollback failed Cannot roll back edit to Christopher Thorndyke by 98.238.180.242 (talk · block · contribs) because someone else has edited the page. The last revision was by Trak Nar (talk · contribs). The edit summary was: "Reverted edits by 98.238.180.242 (talk

So... I rolled back the page, but the rollback failed because I had already rolled back the page before I rolled back the page. Rollbackception? Special:Uncategorizedpages bug

This has been like this for a while now, and for the most part, I've ignored it, but really... I'd rather know what's going on and what can be done to fix this. For whatever reason, the Special:Uncategorizedpages has Battle of the Nazzri system (Mandalorian Wars) listed, even though, last I checked, it is categorized. Hell, I'll check it right now. I opened it up in the edit tab and right there at the bottom is its category. So, what's going on? Why is it listed? Trak Nar ^{Ramble on} 09:21, December 24, 2012 (UTC)

That's... bizarre. It also looks like a Wikia or MediaWiki bug; either way, it should be reported to Special:Contact/bug. —MJ— _{War Room} 20:05, December 24, 2012 (UTC)

Actually, I tried something. I removed all three categories from the article, saved, and then reverted. We'll find out tonight when the report updates if the hard removal and re-addition of the categories fixes it. Help pages duplicate headers

I had this really weird bug when opening any page in the Help namespace — every heading seems to have duplicate text. I'm using Monobook in Firefox 17 on Kubuntu 12.10; however, I can confirm it also happened logged out (=using Oasis) in Chrome. Bypassing the cache (ctrl+shift+r) didn't seem to help. Mesed up top bar

This isn't really a bug, but I figured it would best go here. At the moment, several words on the top bar are coming on without caps or have two words joined together, The ones this is happening too are navigation, current events, featured articles, help and all pages under the interaction section except upload images. Recent Changes is broken... again

This looks to be Wikia-wide, and no doubt others have noticed and probably reported it. The Recent Changes is not collapsing multiple edits, and the AJAX is broken. I'm using the Monobook skin in Chrome. Trak Nar ^{Ramble on} 02:15, March 1, 2013 (UTC)

Possible image bug

After deleting this nonsense, I've noticed that the image does not go away entirely. The image is deleted, but the file history and all remains. I checked in with others on IRC and they too have noticed it. I haven't noticed this before after deleting an image. Is this a new bug? Or was something incorrectly done when the user uploaded the image? JangFett ^(Talk) 03:48, July 25, 2013 (UTC)

Existant redlink

Apparently when I go here, the 2013 history section link (at the top) appears as a redlink yet when I press, it exists. Thanks. Winterz (talk) 03:26, February 1, 2014 (UTC)

Opening crawl overflow

The Opening crawl template forces one to scroll down and to the side, because Wikia. (This bug is apparently absent in Monobook, god bless its outdated soul.)
Now this is a fairly simple manual fix, if you go through every use of the template and add

 |text=<pre class="nostyle" style="overflow:hidden;">It is a period of civil war...

etcetera (all credit to User:WhereIsMyMind). However this bug will still be there, stalking, waiting for someone to forget to place the text without that style, and then it will strike. It also kinda bothers me a little, you know, aesthetically. -- Zero-ELEC (talk) 17:37, December 13, 2014 (UTC)

Thanks. I actually just implemented a fix directly in the template code itself that will enforce that formatting in all usages. Thus the literal pre tags are now totally redundant and are no longer required in each transclusion, as verified by removing from from the ROTJ article. :) —MJ— _{War Room} 05:55, December 14, 2014 (UTC)

Ah, I get it now. This is not a bug, just a normal thing in that the server-side cache of a page doesn't always update immediately when a template on that page is edited. Purging the server cache will fix it. —MJ— ^{Training Room} 07:29, January 22, 2015 (UTC)

Recent Images box missing?

It is, as MJ said, something that only appears in the Wikia skin. This change was scheduled to be made but, due to a communication error, it went live a little earlier than planned. We (as in Wikia) are working on some updates to the right rail and, during investigation, we found the photo module has very low interaction rates. After a review, we've decided that restoring it (and removing it again in the near-future) doesn't make sense. We therefore opted to not restore it, which is why you no longer see it. - Brandon Rhea^(talk) 05:45, March 9, 2015 (UTC)

a bug, in {{fact}}

There's a weird bug seemingly related to the {{Fact}} template, though I haven't been able to replicate it (even by copy/pasting the buggy text) so I can't say for sure.

To see it in action, edit the LEGO#Expanded Universe section; remove the seemingly unnecessary <br /> tag, leaving the blank line following it to indicate a new paragraph; and preview the page (in Desktop mode, since Mobile strips out {{Fact}}). Notice that, despite the blank line that universally signals wikis to begin a new paragraph, the paragraph break has mysteriously vanished.

split personality

Hi! Composite-beam laser is a Legends article. It leads off with {{Eras|imp|reb|new|type=legends}}, so the Legends banner appears at the top. It links to Legends articles and has Legends appearances. It is clearly trying its best to be a Legends article. Yet the Canon tab is the one highlighted, and the Legends tab merely redirects back to the same page (seemingly the result of a page move a couple months ago). In other words, everything in the page's source indicates it should be a Legends page (the word "canon" appears nowhere in the source); why is it appearing under the Canon tab? • The problem is that the /Legends page exists, even as a redirect. It needs to be deleted for the tabs to work properly, because right now the eras template thinks that the existence of the /Legends page means the actual page should be marked as Canon. - Brandon Rhea^(talk) 00:26, October 12, 2016 (UTC)

    • Incidentally "type=legends" is normally redundant on a Legends article with an Eras tag that specifies specific eras, except it seems that in this case it's actually forcing it to display the Legends banner. problem with search? also requesting redirects

i hope this is the right place to ask for help? Sometimes search replaces the spaces between words with underscores, and returns zero results because there are no underscores in the page title, even though there are underscores in the website address.

Inconsistent block and talk links

Screenshot of the problem.

When I looked at my watchlist a few minutes ago, the block and talk links were behaving oddly. Block links appeared on some lines, but not others, and in once case showed both behaviors for JCRules on consecutive lines. Also, a talk link for JCRules showed up red as if the page didn't exist, when you can see a few lines down that it does exist; other talk links for JCRules correctly show up purple as a visited, existing page. Vista, Firefox 16.0.2, Monobook. Anybody else seeing this? —MJ— ^Holocomm 23:42, October 31, 2012 (UTC)

For that matter, what of regular users who have reported the weird phantom sysop powers? I had seen this before the upgrade and before I became an admin. Namespace drop-down box in RC page

On the Recent Changes page, the Namespace drop down box near the top does not work, it does not open, it does nothing in the latest version of Firefox. I just checked and it does work in IE version 9.0.10. - JMAS ^{Hey, it's me!} 04:04, November 1, 2012 (UTC)

    • JMAS, is it broken if you uncheck the Ajax RC checkbox and refresh the page? Works for me in Firefox. If it is just the Ajax RC issue, I can fix it I believe. Culator: what core functionality does it break? It really does something that core should be doing, i.e. letting you filter on more than one namespace at once, which has always been a pain of core's RC filter.       • Grunny: Ever since it was implemented, RC links with namespace selections in them no longer function. You can only select namespaces with this stupid dropdown and its javascript, or cookie, or whatever in the hell it uses. At least that's how it was last I checked. Odd error deleting file

When I deleted [[:File:TerrenceCarson.jpg]], after entering the reason and clicking the delete button, I got the following message:

Error deleting file: TerrenceCarson.jpg TerrenceCarson.jpg has been deleted.

Editor problems on Darth Vader's Armor.

The bugs on the editor (circled)

Hi.

I'm trying to add edits to the Darth Vader's armor article that pertained to information from Darth Vader A 3-D Reconstruction Log. However, I'm noticing that several parts of the page seem to have a lot of reference tags inexplicably cut when in edit mode. My browser is Internet Explorer, and I'm using Windows version 7. Bizarre edit chronology, and not showing in recent changes

See [1]. Note that the edit on the LEFT says "Latest revision". If you click "Newer edit", you get this, which is the exact same two edits, right down to the revision IDs, in reverse order. Additionally, viewing the page directly shows my revision, not Cal's. Finally, my edit is not showing up in recent changes or my watchlist, which indicates that it was not added to the recent changes table—and if edits are not showing up in recent changes or watchlists, that means vandalism could slip through the cracks. Image upload failed to create the description page

See [[:File:Soul-snare.png]]. The image was uploaded by Morgoth's Ring at 16:58 EST today, but as evidenced by the page history, the description page did not exist until I created it at 18:10 EST. This is despite the fact that the upload log shows that the proper information is in the upload summary (and never mind that even an upload without any information provided should create an empty description page). Number of pages in a category

[[:Category:Pages using the url parameter of the JCFcite template]] says on the first page that "The following 200 pages are in this category, out of 705 total." However, when you go through the category, there are actually only 458 pages listed. {{PAGESINCAT:Pages using the url parameter of the JCFcite template}} says 705 as well (live count: 0). Broken move

A few minutes ago, I tried to move Charsae Saal to Chara. On my first attempt to do so, Wikia gave me a notice that the server was experiencing technical difficulties. When I looked closer, I discovered that it had moved the article and noted this in the page history, but without doing any of the other stuff that accompanies moving the article, namely 1) moving the talk page also, 2) placing the new title on my watchlist (since the old title was already on my watchlist), 3) creating a redirect at the old title, or 4) creating an entry in the move log. That last one is the most important because it's the one that cannot be fixed. As such, this seems like a serious bug that needs to be fixed. Being logged out randomly

Forced preview during editing

Not that this is a problem or anything, as often I'm quite grateful for when it happens, but when I hit "Submit," the page will go straight to a preview. At least once, this has happened several times in a row. Hit "submit," get a preview. Hit "submit," get a preview. Hit "submit" a third time, get a preview. During that preview, I will closely review my edit, as I've had mysterious bugs that would randomly devour a chunk of text for no discernible reason (MJ's dealt with this issue, too), so it's not necessarily a bad bug. However, when you have to hit "submit" three times in order to submit your changes, it's irritating. I've checked my preferences, and I have nothing set to show a preview on the first edit. Image upload issue

While it is slightly different, seems like a related problem to the previous Forced preview topic. I've attempted to upload an image 5 times now. And it just keeps bringing me back to the upload screen with the Information template blanked out, but the image file name still in the Destination Filename spot. I just edit-conflicted myself. I was editing yubnut, and when I went to save my changes, it said that there was an edit conflict. I checked the RC and saw that my edit went through. Monobook logo

The Monobook logo isn't currently appearing, which seems to be a result of Wikia tweaking the image file system structure. The HTML points to [3] , which gives a 404, whereas it should point to [4] . Gadgets issues

disappearing space in a Person infobox

There's a minor but odd display problem with Template:Person. See, for example, the George Lucas article: one infobox field says "Star Warswork" rather than "Star Wars work". However, the source for the template contains the space. Asithol (talk) 21:23, December 21, 2015 (UTC)

Page appears to be blank

In the past week, randomly pages have appeared to be blank. The content is there, however, as seen in the editor, and a null edit usually solves the problem. The categories display just fine, too. I can't seem to replicate this behavior, it just happens every now and then (1-2 times daily). Law infobox

There's a display issue with with {{Law}}, as can be seen at Military Creation Act/Legends. The support and opposition headers are appearing stacked atop one another instead of horizontally arranged. I'm not certain if this is a problem with the portable conversion that I should ask Cade about or if it's somehow derivative of the [[Tl|Battle}} overhaul (neither of which I am really at all familiar with). Mangled code when creating pages

Recently I've been getting a warning message when trying to create new pages. The message says that I'm using the VisualEditor interface, which is resulting in mangled code. However, I'm using the Source Editor, and the page looks totally fine in the preview. "Recent Changes" bug

Special:RecentChangesLinked/Category:Senate_Hall has links to show a certain number of changes, or changes within a certain time frame. Okay, this should be fixed-ish. RCL uses the same data as the standard RC and both of them have a cap of 20,000 total edits. This means that if only 2 of the past 20,000 edits were made to SH threads, only those two will show in the RCL listing for the SH. However Wikia staff has upped the limit to 100,000 which should make RCL at least a bit more useful. bogus warning

The Tom Spina page has had a link to User:jSarek in one of its references from day one. When I made a couple of minor edits to the page, which left this link intact with no changes to it, I got a warning message saying, "Your edit has added a link to a user or user talk page within the content namespace." XPath calls seem to be broken

I have this crazy nerd-goal of reading/watching/listening to every last piece of canon media. To that end, I created a Google Sheet that imports data from the table in Timeline of canon media and then sorts it by release date so that I can keep track of what I have and haven't consumed. It uses the Google Sheets function IMPORTXML to do an XPath query on the HTML source code of that page. It was working quite nicely for the past several months until today. For whatever reason, it's not finding the table when it does the XPath query. I can still do the XPath query on an archived version of the webpage, so I know it's not a problem on Google's end. I also have this problem when I try to do XPath queries on other pages, like Timeline of Legends media. So it seems to be some sort of bug with Wikia or Wookeepedia. 7.1 New message

I was wondering how many edits I would have to do before I was allowed to create articles? Every time I attempt to do so, as in the case of creating small articles for the red-links seen in the participants section of the Battle of Hoth, the system claims that there has been an error associated with an "extension hook." I was wondering if this was related to the fact that I had only done fifty edits so far, or if this is tied to an error on my own system. I encountered a similar glitch while attempting the monolith undertaking of creating character pages for the various mentioned-onlys from Resident Evil 7 over on that wiki (you're welcome, world), but it went away after I refreshed the browser. • As I understand it, your number of edits has nothing to do with whether or not you can create an article(if it did, we'd get a lot less spam/fanon articles). The extension hook is something I've had issues with in the past; from what I can tell, it shows up more often than not when you make an edit with the visual editor. WTH is going on?

This morning, I was adding {{Destiny}} to some images and when it saved, other templates on the page didn't work, and categories disappeared. Unfortunately I didn't take a screenshot of this, and this afternoon, if I edited and saved it again without making any changes, suddenly it was fixed.

And if I tried to save the change, I got this screen. Yet again, the image is not deleted, and how can an IP address delete an image anyway?

It gets me to the correct page, but not before visiting an unknown page with a complicated URL that does nothing but bring me to the page I wanted in the first place. I also think this might be related to a separate issue/bug -- if I clicked on an image to look at it more closely, the image would fail to display and I'd be unable to click away without reloading the original page.

Fortunately, once I registered as a named user, the weirdness went away -- both the redirect pages and the images issue. Not sure what the issue was, though I'll certainly keep my eye out if it reoccurs. As for my specs, I'm running Google Chrome (the most recent update) on a Windows 10 OS, and I'm pretty sure I'm using the default skin for this site. Publicola (talk) 05:38, December 8, 2017 (UTC)

Signature issue

Not sure if it's just me but I get issues when signing with the "~" in some pages. I get an automatic "nocode" between the symbols and I can't get rid of it. It's just some pages. The error appears to be related with visual editor but I always edit by source (I don't even know how to work with VE). Here's an example on my first post. invalid word division

In infoboxes, any words that are too wide for the column are automatically split and hyphenated at proper hyphenation points. The same does not appear to be true of image captions: the caption for the narrow image in the Hyperspace navigation buoy article renders (at least in Firefox on a desktop) as

dividing the first word at a spot that is not a valid hyphenation point, and failing to add a hyphen. This one instance could be easily fixed, but a better solution is to address the general problem: since the algorithm for correctly dividing and hyphenating words already exists, it should be applied to any place a word might be divided; failing that, the word should just be allowed to continue past the right edge of the image. Software should never add line breaks at arbitrary points in the middle of words. (This is likely a wiki issue and not a Wookieepedia one, but I'm posting here first to see if anyone who knows the implementation details can confirm or deny this.) Thanks for any input.       • If browsers are rendering differently because of slight differences in fonts, or image widths, or some other cosmetic difference, the underlying bug is still there regardless of whether you can replicate this particular instance.         • Similar to what Ecks saw, I just used the most up to date version of Firefox to test the "antidisestablishmentarianism" on :File:Luke's Final Moments.png. At 200px, it shows all on one line. If I make it smaller at 100px, there's a line break where you would expect it to be. Neither way shows a non-standard break in the latest version of Firefox. If I go to Hyperspace navigation buoy in the latest version of Firefox, it shows correctly with each word on its own line with no non-standard line breaks. My recommendation would be to update your browser. Unable to edit Image/File pages

This is getting to be infuriating. Is there anyone else having difficulty, if not outright inability to edit File: pages? Going on my 4th day now, Wikia/Fandom will not let me add the {{Tumblr}} or {{Cite web}} templates, or any other template for that matter, to any File: page when I'm trying to update the source. It will intermittently allow me to save a plain text addition as a test, but not let me revert the test (I had to get Tope to do it). I have reported the issue to Wikia/Fandom and they have been unable to tell me why. I've used both Firefox and Chrome, running the latest update. I've cleared by browser cache, rebooted my computer, and nothing works. I'm just trying to find out if this is affecting anyone else. - JMAS ^{Hey, it's me!} 02:39, April 2, 2019 (UTC)

    • I'm getting the same problem while trying to modify the description and source fields here. When I open up that file page in a new tab to try and start over, I get this purple notification that I've never seen before that says "This is a draft that includes your unpublished changes. Keep up the great work!" with two options to click, either "DISCARD" or "OKAY" -- no matter what I choose, I still get the error page when I do try to save the page.         • Tope, out of curiousity, are you attempting to add a template as part of your edit? I really feel like this issue revolves around adding templates within the {{Information}} template. If you look at the edit history for File:Bowcaster Wookiee SWL.png, you can see that I was able to save both an edit that closed the Licensing template that I had accidentally left open as well as an edit that simply changed one word for another in the description.     • I did update my open support ticket with Fandom support on May 24th with the new information about http being the issue. Same day they reported back that the issue is only affecting Wookieepedia and no other Fandom sites, but I was told this should help them find the problem and fix it. DEFAULTSORT partly stopped working

The A Crash of Fate article source explicitly lists two categories that the page is a member of (Category:Canon young-adult novels and Category:Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge). The page uses templates that implicitly add it to two further categories ([[:Category:Articles with major spoilers]] and Category:Real-world articles). The page source includes the text {{DEFAULTSORT:Crash of Fate, A}}, which should (and once upon a time did) correctly alphabetize an article in all its categories. Currently, however, it is correct only in the first two (explicitly listed) categories; in the implicit ones, it is incorrectly filed under A instead of C.

{{DEFAULTSORT}} does not appear to be a Wookieepedia template—the page [[Template:DEFAULTSORT]] does not exist here—so this may be a Fandom bug and not a Wookieepedia one, but asking here seems like the best first step. Asithol (talk) 04:08, August 26, 2019 (UTC)

As a point of comparison, I just added {{DEFAULTSORT}} to A Blu Hope!, which is a member of one explicit (Category:Star Wars Insider 128 articles) and two implicit (Category:Magazine article stubs and Category:Real-world articles) categories. This addition alphabetized the article correctly in the explicit category and one of the implicit ones; it remains incorrect in Category:Real-world articles. • The template responsible for adding [[:Category:Articles with major spoilers]] has been fixed. The one responsible for Category:Real-world articles will have to be looked at by someone knowledgeable in the Lua language, since that is actually invoked by [[:Module:Eras]].   • [[Module:Eras]] probably shouldn't categorize articles in Category:Real-world articles, as all real-world articles are already in subcategories of it. Before this edit, neither {{Eras}} or the module did it.     • Yeah, I too had the thought that, at least for these two articles, Category:Real-world articles was redundant with some other category, and I agree with 01miki10 that that should be true in general.           • Right—I wasn't arguing against the usefulness of the Real-world articles category, but rather that placing articles directly within this category violates our rule stating "Articles placed in [a category] should not also be placed in that category's parent category." Real-world articles only exists as a parent category, as every real-world article should be in some subcategory of it. The occasional exception can be specifically added to Category:Real-world articles, but there is no reason that this action should be the default (and in fact was not until 2016, when one editor thought this was somehow "broken"). Unable to upload images

Recently I have tried uploading images and each time I have gotten this warning:

"Due to upload abuse, adding or replacing files is limited to users who have achieved a threshold number of edits and account lifetime, and have a confirmed email address in their user preferences. Please find something constructive to do until you reach this threshold. Please note that spamming unproductive edits to reach this threshold will cause your account to be completely blocked from editing. For more information, please contact an administrator via IRC."

I'm very sure my account meets the threshold for uploading images but no matter what I am unable to and any help or advice would be great. I haven't used these forums before and I am unsure if I am putting this in the wrong one but it seemed like the right place to ask about it so forgive me if it's not. AdmiralThrawn91 (talk)

Hi men... I am a SW fan from Italy...
