Although generally "fate is unknown", "whereabouts unknown," etc. are violations of manual of style, what about in cases when in-universe sources mention this? For example, Cane Adiss's WTS entry in the Databank stated in universe that it was unknown if he escaped the Khetanna's destruction or not. Back in 2009, I remember making an edit saying that, which was reverted because of manual of style. But would it really go against manual of style if an official source stated it, as it is not just some Wookieepedia editor's own conjecture? Hanzo Hasashi 16:18, October 6, 2011 (UTC)
- This is something I've always thought was kinda dumb. If a source makes it official, then it is canon. It is saying that no one in the galaxy knows what happened, and so I believe we should add this to articles. MasterFred(Whatever) 16:22, October 6, 2011 (UTC)
- There are indeed several examples of characters literally having canonical, in-universe "unknown fates." Aside from the Cane Adiss thing, some Galaxy Guide character entries end with similar descriptions. The purpose of our site rule is to avoid people coming up with this convenient ending as their own manufactured way of trying to add closure to a character whose biography doesn't necessarily have any. But if someone's fate is canonically "unknown," that's a different animal, and it's something that can and should be added to an article, as long as it can be properly sourced. - Then there seems to be misunderstanding about this as I have been told differently before. MasterFred(Whatever) 16:38, October 6, 2011 (UTC)

- If it is within the universe, look at Cane Adiss. If it is not, look at the Unidentified Nikto Jedi. 173.51.117.61 19:39, October 10, 2011 (UTC)
