So I've read a lot of articles on this wiki and noticed a lot of Expanded Universe information conflicts with events and backgrounds given in Lucasfilm sources like Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Wouldn't it be convenient if articles that suffer from conflicting accounts were separated into different articles? (example, Asajj Ventress (main) and Assaj Ventress (EU) because of her different characterizations and backstories) Everything Lucasfilm does should have priority over sources like novels and Black Horse Comics, but not completely replace them. Making different articles would allow both accounts to be preserved and de-clutter all of the articles suffering from conflicting information. just a thought. —Unsigned comment by Justanotherfan1 (talk • contribs).
- While Lucas's information generally does take priority, it doesn't necessarily invalidate prior information; it only forces later works to re-evaluate and re-contextualize it in all but the most blatantly contradictory cases. For instance, when The Clone Wars gave us Lucas's vision of Mandalore, many thought it invalidated the long and storied EU history that world had developed over thirty years. Not so; later works like The Essential Atlas have made those two visions of the planet fit together. Thus, we put all the information on a subject in one article, with a warning template and a Behind the scenes discussion that explains the conflict, so that our readers can see all of the information about a given topic, and make up their own mind about how it fits together, until the day comes when an official source allows for the reconciliation of the two visions. jSarek 10:41, December 16, 2011 (UTC)
