I brought this up a little while ago in a TC thread, but I noticed [Category:Redeemed Force-sensitives] a few minutes ago that got me thinking on it again:

• redeemed Force-sensitive
• falling to the dark side
• when someone redeems themselves and returns to the light/Jedi

Are these, and similar usage of language throughout the Wook, not flagrant violations of WP:NPOV? Of course, I realize that GL's view of the 'verse is that the light is purity and dark is corruption, and that, consequently, much of this language is pretty common parlance.

But we're also the wook, and we embrace a wider view than what GL considers the canon of SW. One of our most important guiding policies is to follow NPOV as closely as possible; it's a central guiding tenet of everything we do here.

So why do we throw it out in these cases? Shouldn't we be going with more neutral wording (ie: "turned" to the dark/light)? And shouldn't flagrant violations (such as that category) get deleted for being in violation of site policy?

• I don't think these fall under the NPOV issue. Yes, certain characters think that way, but that's not why these are treated as canon. (If that were the case, then our usage of them would indeed be POV.) The phrases "falling" to the dark side and being "redeemed" back to the light are used in prose outside of characters' thoughts and (IIRC) in some sourcebooks, too.
