Forum:SH:Picture Sourcing
I'm relatively new to Wookieepedia and I have a question regarding pictures in articles. I was wondering if there was an easy way to see what source a photo comes from. Often, I'll see a neat picture and I want to know where it comes from but I can't seem to find a link or citation about it. Can anyone fill me in as to where the reference info for pictures is (if any)? Also, is every picture licensed, or are some of the photos Fan-made if there is no official photo for the character, location, etc?--Masterbmw 05:35, February 5, 2012 (UTC)
- It's actually a lot easier than you think. Clicking on the image will take you to a page that tells you what is in the picture, where it's from, and, if applicable, who drew it. For example, File:Caedus EA.jpg tells you that it's from The Essential Atlas. I hope that helps! All images on this site are officially licensed. Fan-art is not allowed. - Great, thanks! I never bothered pressing the magnifying glass icon because I assumed it would only enlarge the photo.--Masterbmw 06:14, February 5, 2012 (UTC)
- Yeah, that's actually a feature in the default Wikia look. In Monobook, clicking on an image takes you directly to the file description page. For the optimal Wookieepedia experience, switch to Monobook. :) 1358 (Talk) 15:48, February 9, 2012 (UTC)
