Quite honestly, {{Lightsaber}} is looking way too crowded these days. It's incorporating just about anything to do with a lightsaber; some of the stuff doesn't even look like it should be mentioned.
The two main topics that seem to be covered are lightsaber construction and lightsaber combat technique. I would propose that we split {{Lightsaber}} into two templates and then do away with it, to be replaced by {{Lightsaber construction}} and {{Lightsaber technique}}.
My proposals for these new templates are below. Please leave comments in the specified sections. CC7567 (talk) 07:34, January 5, 2013 (UTC)

- It would be possible for Lightsaber crystal to have its own navigation template altogether, but I included synth-crystal here because I figured it was as notable as the regular crystal, due to its widespread Sith usage. CC7567 (talk) 07:34, January 5, 2013 (UTC)

- I split the previous "Techniques" section into "Stances" and "Maneuvers," with the latter being ordered first with the moves named in the other language, followed by the ones with Basic (English) names. CC7567 (talk) 07:34, January 5, 2013 (UTC)
- I like it. I don't really mind large nav templates, but this definitely improves the lightsaber one. I have no complaints.—Cal Jedi (Personal Comm Channel) 15:00, January 8, 2013 (UTC)
- I think the Maneuvers section could be split up a bit. A good start might be to separate the marks of contact into their own section of the template. Otherwise, I like the split. —MJ— Council Chambers 05:52, January 9, 2013 (UTC)
- Yeah, now that I look at it again, the Maneuvers section is a bit crowded, but overall the template looks pretty good. Trak Nar Ramble on 05:56, January 9, 2013 (UTC)
- Sure, take a look. Checking The Jedi Path, I used the order printed there for the Marks of Contact. The "Maneuvers" section is more or less alphabetical. If anyone has ideas about how to re-order it, I'm all ears. CC7567 (talk) 06:09, January 9, 2013 (UTC)
- I may come up with some ideas, but that will require sleep. I've spent all day setting up a new computer and learning Windows 8, so I'm tired and need to get to bed. I'll take a closer look later in the week. One thing I can suggest right now is possibly adding a brief (two- or three-word) explanation of what each mark of contact is so that readers know what they're looking at. —MJ— Training Room 06:16, January 9, 2013 (UTC)
- (lol windows 8) CC's suggested templates seem good, though I have no objections to splitting up the maneuvers section further. 1358 (Talk) 14:48, January 9, 2013 (UTC)
- (Windows 8 actually isn't bad. But then I'm the guy who had no problem with Vista. :P) Having glanced at all of the remaining articles under "Maneuvers", I think the best way to split them up is to separate the practice, training, and sparring drills and techniques from the combat techniques and maneuvers. Beyond that, I don't think there's any other clear division by which the list could be split. —MJ— Council Chambers 23:43, January 9, 2013 (UTC)
- These both look good to me, a vast improvement over the bloated singular template we currently have. We'll still use both template on the primary lightsaber article though, right? -- Riffsyphon1024 01:26, January 11, 2013 (UTC)
