The eighth wave for X-Wing Miniatures Game has just been announced, and, well, there's a bit of a twist to this set regarding canon, or rather, canons:
Basically, we've got for this set the Ghost/Wolf, the Inquisitor's TIE advanced prototype, the Mist Hunter, and the Punishing One, plus Kallus's Gozanti-class cruiser. That basically means we've got three canon-class ships (well, technically four, but one of them's a two-for-one deal), and two Legends-class ships (those being the Mist Hunter and the Punishing One). So how do we handle this revelation on Wookieepedia? Previous installments were generally of the Legends continuity, or if they did appear in the Canon continuity, it was strictly limited to the actual films prior to the canon/legends split, so we're in for a dilemma.
I put a comment of Kallus' talkpage about this. I believe one of the FFG sourcebooks mentioned Lothal, but we decided not to make it until the switchover. Similar things have happened with the All Terrain Defense Pod and the fall of Lasan. - AV-6R7 (talk) 22:02, July 31, 2015 (UTC)
And the latest run of the Official Fact Files also covers Rebels material... --LelalMekha (talk) 22:35, July 31, 2015 (UTC)
Also, the F&D Core Rulebook includes a pic of Kanan. It also has the following notification from the Story Group regarding old Tython: 'truth about their origins and early adventures has yet to be revealed' Corellian PremierThe Force will be with you always 00:19, August 1, 2015 (UTC)
We need to get a statement one way or the other on the status of the FFG stuff. I don't think that treating it as legends actually makes any more sense than treating it as canon at this point, especially concerning the newer stuff. Since it seems to be avoiding including some legends content like the Tython stuff and has story group involved that surely suggests some kind of attempt to work with the new canon? At Celebration they said they were going to be including Ep. VII content later this year which is only going make this more an important issue to solve. Ayrehead02 (talk) 20:00, August 1, 2015 (UTC)
At the very least, the Raider-class Corvette was explicitly considered Legends material since the blog entry that introduced it and gave its specs specifically stated it was for the Legends continuity. Not to mention the new Canon doesn't even use the ABY/BBY system anyways. Honestly, I'm beginning to think the whole timeline split was completely pointless.
