I assume everyone got this email from Wikia/FANDOM today.

Do we have any recourse on this? From the email, it would appear not—the decision has been made as a technical/legal compliance thing. But Wookieepedia has managed to avoid terrible Wikia decisions in the past, so...maybe?

And if not, we should probably get on modifying any policies that mention preference for Monobook. — DigiFluid(Whine here) 16:44, May 21, 2018 (UTC)

  • User:ChristopherLeeGallant suggested we look into https://dev.wikia.com/wiki/PseudoMonobook. - AV-6R7Crew Pit 16:52, May 21, 2018 (UTC)
    • I'm pretty sure all Monobook-related things were removed from policies at the last Mofference. 1358 (Talk) 19:42, May 21, 2018 (UTC)
      • As Xd notes, we're already formatting articles for the Wikia/Oasis skin after the last Mofference. I think article formatting was the only place where a preference for Monobook was established, but if not, between the death of Monobook and the consensus generated there, I think any overlooked references to Monobook can be deleted or changed to Wikia/Oasis, as appropriate. jSarek (talk) 19:58, May 21, 2018 (UTC)
        • As for those who hate Oasis and would prefer to continue using Monobook, I and many others are working on reverse-engineering Monobook. My Oasis currently looks like this, so there's hope. 1358 (Talk) 21:57, May 22, 2018 (UTC)
          • Have you made any progress on your reverse engineered Monobook? I'd like to try it out lol--Benjay2345 (talk) 01:39, May 24, 2018 (UTC)
          • Thank you, because this Oasis skin is awful. Adamwankenobi (talk) 16:41, May 25, 2018 (UTC)

OK, I've uploaded a pic a new version of my reverse-engineered Monobook. I've added installation instructions at User:Xd1358/PseudoMonobook. Let me know if you need help. 1358 (Talk) 23:56, May 25, 2018 (UTC)

  • Looks great! Just wondering about link colours? Would love to get some purple for links I've looked at already. As a basic user of CSS, is this all I need to put into that user wikia.js page? [1] --Vandar Tokare42 (Talk to the hand) 10:49, May 26, 2018 (UTC)
    • Try a:visited { color: #5a3696; } in your wikia.css (not wikia.js). That should be the Monobook visited link color. Green Tentacle (Talk) 11:13, May 26, 2018 (UTC)
      • This has been integrated into my PseudoMonobook. 1358 (Talk) 21:15, May 26, 2018 (UTC)
  • I followed the instructions, enabled java on the wiki and did cntrl+f5 but it's not working for me for some reason. Adamwankenobi (talk) 17:16, May 26, 2018 (UTC)
    • Same thing as with Floyd: Remove the < source > tags (first and last lines). They're HTML for presentation purposes, not JS code. 1358 (Talk) 21:16, May 26, 2018 (UTC)
  • Awesome. Great work 1358. That's much better.--Darth Fool (talk) 20:20, May 26, 2018 (UTC)
  • 1358, you are my personal hero. I made an account on wikia ages ago just so that I could use the Monobook layout, and was pretty peeved on discovering that Wikia removed that option. Thank you for making this script. This should hold me over until an even more authentic fix is found. TheCommissar113 (talk) 20:45, May 26, 2018 (UTC)
  • Thank you for this. I absolutely abhor the new style. StarsiderSWG (talk)
  • Thanks Ecks for making this --Lewisr (talk) 17:18, May 27, 2018 (UTC)
