  • I've noticed that the Wookiepedia article makes several claims about Admiral Daala that I have my doubts about:

1. That she was a Corporal in the Imperial Military initially.

2. That she was never an Imperial officer.

Since the StarWars.com website (http://www.starwars.com/databank/character/admiraldaala/index.html)does not mention #1, and contradicts #2 (2nd paragraph of article), I was wondering what the source was for these statements in the article, and if it might need correcting. I've read most of the books about Daala, and don't recall any of them citing these two things either. Can this be corrected or cited? Unsigned comment by 75.55.214.15 (talk • contribs).

  • To be honest, I've never been entirely happy with this either. The reasoning can be found on the article's talk page but I've always thought that, even though Tarkin promoted her without anybody else's knowledge, this was within his power to do so the promotion should be official. Either way, the fact that she certainly held the rank of Admiral in the Imperial Remnant isn't even mentioned in the intro which simply calls her a warlord. It does seem a little anti-Daala, particularly with the way the point was argued ("Got Her!"). Green Tentacle (Talk) 11:07, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
  • I've found nothing about her being a corporal, but Admiral Daala was an Imperial officer. —Xwing328(Talk) 18:01, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
    • Agreed. I don't recall reading anything about her being a corporal. But she absolutely was an officer in the Imperial military. Doesn't matter that Tarkin promoted her privately, it was still a valid rank given to her by someone with the authority to do so. Palpatine promoted Thrawn to Grand Admiral privately and in secret, does this make his rank invalid? I think not. - JMAS 19:07, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
      • According to the quote on that page though, "an unofficial promotion outside of Coruscant's naval hierarchy, but a legitimate one among Tarkin's forces in the Outer Rim". Thrawn's wasn't unofficial. It was just secret. I have no idea where she's mentioned as being a corporal, but I wouldn't rule out it being in one of the cited sourcebooks. Someone should at least take a look before the information is removed. Cull Tremayne 08:58, 1 February 2007 (UTC)
        • Well, I can't produce a quote right away, but I think I remember Daala saying something to the effect that she had been "a lowly corporal, working in the kitchen" (or somesuch thing) when Tarkin found her as she recounted her tale to Pellaeon in Darksaber. • Tarkin was astonished to learn I was a woman and even more astonished to see that I was a lowly corporal working in the kitchen. Straight out of Darksaber, as you said. Uxviii 09:35, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

              • IIRC, they first became acquainted over the computer, thru a training simulation or something. So the quote is actually perfectly reasonable.--Valin Kenobi 14:43, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
  • Admiral Daala was a corpral but im also cirtain i never heard that she was an imperial officer

  • The main reason the contention comes up is probably because of Domus Publica ad how he goes out of his way every time Daala is mentioned to claim that she was never actually an admiral. People say that we're unprofessional...Kuralyov 15:12, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
