Appearances vs New continuity?

  • Can someone please elaborate as to why this is distinguished and the context whereupon one heading should be used in preference to the other. Also, it would be useful if the answer to this question was added to the Manual of Style for others seeking clarification. Thanks - Shiaic 14:32, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
    • Huh? I was under the impression that the New Continuity header was used in the articles of sources, listing what additions to canon this source provided. What has that got to do with the Appearances heading? Also, it sounds like you encountered both headings in one and the same article. Could you link to such an article for me, so I can see an example of what your are talking about? DarthMRN 15:46, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
      • Appearances is a list of every single thing that "appears" in a given source. New continuity is a list of every new thing appearing for the first time in the Star Wars universe in that same source. Because Appearances lists everything, there is a slight overlap between the two. Several other methods have tried to correct this overlap by using the {{1st}} template - (First appearance) - and by making separate index lists for entire series. —Xwing328(Talk) 19:16, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
