Hello. I thought I'd start a Senate Hall Thread for asking questions about the Canoninity of something.

My question is if the novel Another Hope by Lori Jareo is considered canon? It states that the GFFA is called Celestine and that Palpatines full name is Carrollus Janren. It was published July 2005. Can anyone confirm its canon status? Thanks Skywalka 03:56, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

  • If you bought that, I'd see about getting your money back. That's fan-made and totally unofficial. Kuralyov 04:18, 20 April 2006 (UTC)
    • No, I didn't buy it. Was just wondering about it. I'd seen it on Amazon and Fishpond, both classed it as a Star Wars novel. Didn't think it was though, so I thought I'd ask. Thanks Skywalka 04:46, 20 April 2006 (UTC)
      • Just looked it up on Amazon. That's...impressive. It's a real book, published last July, and they obviously haven't been sued yet. Interesting. -- Ozzel 05:14, 20 April 2006 (UTC)
      • That's just in-kriffing-credible. Next thing you know, Rise of the Dark Falls will be on Amazon. Still won't be canon, but it will be fun to see idiots get taken in. Darth Culator 15:50, 20 April 2006 (UTC)
        • Should I ask Sue Rostoni about this?--The Erl of the SH Archive/Canon Questions talk What I do 15:53, 20 April 2006 (UTC)
          • Who's Sue Rostoni? (P.S sorry for the lateness of this reply and the fact that I probably should know who she is). Skywalka 06:49, 21 April 2006 (UTC)
          • I forget her official title, but she's basically the boss-lady of all book-related things at Lucasfilm. - Breathesgelatin 07:12, 21 April 2006 (UTC)
          • I was basically wondering if I should post a question about that at her blog, or if that would make me responsible for any lawsuits that ensue. It just made me feel a bit uncomfortable.--The Erl of the SH Archive/Canon Questions talk What I do 15:31, 21 April 2006 (UTC)

No, it is not canon. It is strictly fanfiction, and I am highly dissapointed in Amazon for promoting it. Apparently, the only reason it was published in the first place is due to the fact that she has her own independently owned and run publishing company. The book is also grossly inaccurate. If you read the sample pages, not only does it read like a technical manuel, but she mixes the Star Wars universe with the Star Trek. I.e., she speaks of the "star fleet of the Rebel Alliance." They don't have one. That's Star Trek.

  • They do. But that's besides the point, since Another Hope is indeed full of fanon and inaccuracies. Definately and completely non-canon - Kwenn 21:29, 9 May 2006 (UTC)
