What is the deal with the pictures on this site? I don't get the freedom of use legal stuff. If I wanted to use the pictures here for an unofficial, non-profit fan-release, would I be able to bebefit from the same freedom of use terms as Wookieepedia, or would I have to get the explicit permission of LucasSomething first? • It's called "fair use", not "freedom of use". It highly depends on the circumstances, and while some may believe that something is fair use, others (like the copyright holder) may disagree. What do you mean by "fan-release"? In general, you can use unaltered pictures on non-profit fansites, as long as you note that they're copyrighted by Lucasfilm. They can theoretically sue, but so far, they have been supportive of their fandom. - Sikon 14:18, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
  • I'm working on a total SW conversion for the World of Darkness RPG system, to be released sometime in the future, with all credits due where they belong. While I can generally do without pictures for most of it, having so for different alien species is a must. But you are saying Lucasfilm technically can sue, yet have not done so?...hmm. With Supershadow out there and private websites being allowed to use pictures, I don't see why I shouldn't get to.DarthMRN
    • Basically, so long as you don't make any money off of anything, you're fine. -- Ozzel 23:15, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

  • Alright. Lets derail. What for? I hate the amount of space it takes up, and all the numbers are just making my text more chaotic. When you find my thread at the top of the Senate Hall forums, it isn't likely to be old or anything.DarthMRN 01:10, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

        • Why are we talking to DarthMRN when he left those comments like eight months ago? Oh wait, he didn't. It would have helped if he had time stamped them! Darth Abeonis Sith Council (Sith Campaign) 08:57, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
  • If its on the top of the Senate Hall, it won't be 8 months old. If its on a talk page, its because it needs editing or clarification, no matter how old the request is. And the pages history shows any date you need.DarthMRN 09:12, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
