How does one get a custom sig? -- Doo Doo 06:40, 10 April 2006 (UTC)

  • You mean like changing the name or color? You go into the Preferences screen, and enter it there in the "Nickname" box. StarNeptune 06:44, 10 April 2006 (UTC)
    • Thanks dudette. -- Doo Doo 07:32, 10 April 2006 (UTC)
      • It is better to create a template, for example, at User:Doo Doo/sig, then change the content of your signature setting to just {{User:Doo doo/sig}}. This way, your signature will be automatically updated when you edit the "template". AND DON'T USE THE FONT TAG! IT'S DEPRECATED IN XHTML! The correct way to change text color is via CSS, for example: <span style="color: purple">Doo Doo</span>. - Sikon [Talk] 12:47, 10 April 2006 (UTC)
  • My friend Ampi got me started on my sig. I worked on it until how it is now; --DarthCow--Talk| Email
    • Could someone make a start on the User:Doo Doo/sig template for me? I'm not a great wiki coder. -- Doo Doo
      • Just copy the content of your previous signature to that page and type {{User:Doo doo/sig}} in the signature field in your settings. There's no need to "code" anything. - Sikon [Talk] 12:00, 11 April 2006 (UTC)
        • It don't seem to be working... Probably a screw up on my part. -- {{User:Doo doo/sig}} 23:15, 11 April 2006 (UTC)
  • Did you press the raw signature button on your preferances?
    • Grr! Still not working. -- {{SUBST:User:Doo doo/sig}} 08:04, 12 April 2006 (UTC)
      • Why do you have "SUBST" written? - Sikon [Talk] 08:09, 12 April 2006 (UTC)
        • Got it - change it to {{:User:Doo doo/sig}}. - Sikon [Talk] 08:12, 12 April 2006 (UTC)
          • Lets see... -- Doo Doo 08:16, 12 April 2006 (UTC)
            • Woohoo! -- Doo Doo 08:16, 12 April 2006 (UTC)
  • Any idea why it isn't working for me? Relevant page User:Erl/sig--{{:User:Erl/sig}} 01:14, 14 April 2006 (UTC)
    • Ahh forgot rawness--The Erl of Forum talk 01:39, 14 April 2006 (UTC)
      • Cool. But, is there a way to set the date and time in the temp?--Bly1993
        • How many tildes (~) are you typing in? For me, three produces my sig alone (—Silly Dan (talk)), four my sig and time (—Silly Dan (talk) 17:17, 14 April 2006 (UTC)), and five just the time (17:17, 14 April 2006 (UTC)). Of course, my sig's not templatized. —Silly Dan (talk) 17:17, 14 April 2006 (UTC)
          • Mine's templatized, so I don't do the ~ anymore, I do { { User:Bly1993/sig }} (without the spaces) Bly1993
            • If you want to show something the way you typed it and not the wiki way, do this: (No spaces) < nowiki> type whatever here...user:Darth Cow... < /nowiki > What it would look like is: [[user:Darth Cow]] .

Err... This is only for not creating the 10th article about signatures, but why does my time stamp always stays under my sig? -Stake black msg01:14, 24 April 2006 (UTC)

  • And for some reason it worked above, but that doesn't happen in most cases O_o -Stake black msg01:14, 24 April 2006 (UTC)
    • That's because you're using a template. On the preferences screen, add subst: in front of your template (like {{subst:User:Stake black/sig}} so it is hard coded on each page you sign. When your sig is hardcoded, the line break disappears. StarNeptuneTalk to me! 12:41, 24 April 2006 (UTC)

Erm... where exacly on preferences? It works if i add subst in the template Stake Black - on SH Archive/Custom Sig..? talk -Contribs at 21:09, 24 April 2006 (UTC)
