Has there ever been any attempt by the fans to make a definitive Star Wars map? One attempting to include sectors, planets, phenomena, etc from the Prequels, Original Trilogy, and EU? I'm imagining using something like Flash to make the map interactive would be really incredible (possibly pulling data from Wookieepedia itself).

Maybe I'm just dreaming, but I think something like this while a herculean task could be amazing when finished and with many hands be a less frightening undertaking. Thoughts? Unsigned comment by (talk • contribs).

  • The map on is rather complete, although it isn't interactive. Star Wars Combine has a very large interactive map, but many planets there are fanon. As for Flash, let's face it, it sucks. - Sikon [Talk] 03:55, 14 May 2006 (UTC)
  • Flash doesn't suck, but many of those who attemp to use it do. --SparqMan 05:34, 14 May 2006 (UTC)
    • Flash is a proprietary format, if people used the open standard SVG, it would help in promoting Firefox and Opera. - Sikon [Talk] 09:27, 14 May 2006 (UTC)
  • I've tried to piece things together. Don't take my edits or approximations as full canon though. -- Riffsyphon1024 05:34, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

  • And a version of the map where if you click on a planet's name it will redirect you to the planet's Wookieepedia article: - Modi 20:01, 20 May 2006 (UTC)
  • Galactic maps would involve the Z-Axis. These days, 3-D maps are apparently difficult to make. What's the best 3-D map you could find of the SWG? -- 07:38, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
    • On the scale of the whole galaxy, the z-axis is so small as to be reasonably regarded as negligible (though it would certainly be appropriate for sector maps and the like). That said, I *think* Empire at War's map might be 3d, but from what I've heard its accuracy is limited. jSarek 10:27, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
      • When I brought up 3-D maps on TFN, they said don't even go there. The galaxy is too complicated as it is in just 2 dimensions. We should work on that before we go jumping in and out of the galactic plane. -- Riffsyphon1024 08:22, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
