"Around the year 25,805 BBY, the charismatic Twi'lek Hadiya began to unite the Nine Houses and the aristocracy of Shikaakwa through charm or through force with the help of several lieutenants—Bakko, Ka'un Damm, and Hadiya's "fists," Shri-Lan and Gav Vannar."
Chapter 9 of the novel does provide an introductory quote attributed to Hadiya dated 10,658 TYA (i.e. 25,795 BBY) (a likely error as this would place it two years prior to the comic series and well after the war and Hadiya's death). I'm assuming the author intended to date this quote 10,648 TYA (25,805 BBY). Taking this into account, as I see it, this exact quote could have been made before the war, during the war or repeatedly by Hadiya both before or during as a rallying call to varying factions. The novel also does not actually specify where or who exactly she is addressing with this specific quote.
My reason for this post is that I attempted to append "c.25,805 BBY" as the start date for this war, believing that this was the most accurate representation of the start date that we currently have, only to have my edits repeatedly reverted to 25,805 BBY because User:Cade Calrayn believes otherwise. I thought the Wook aims to be encyclopedic and I believe that Cade's exact start date of 25,805 BBY may be classified as original research/speculation in this case. I'd like the opinion of others who have read both sources in what they believe the best option is. Should we date the start of the Despot War as "c.25,805 BBY" or "25,805 BBY"? It's been changed to c. I don't see how this warranted an SH thread; this is a single-page issue that belongs on the article's talk page, but since you're so insistent on this, I've changed the date. CadeCalrayn 04:48, November 26, 2013 (UTC)
Cade, while I appreciate you re-evaluating your stance on this, there was no need for that snide comment in the edit summary either. There was no need to make this personal. Backtracking your edit simply to avoid a "spectacle" rather than aspiring to provide accurate and well-informed information comes across that you're editing/reverting in a purely combative nature and/or taking a "your word against mine approach" rather than showing some restraint and valuing what others may have to offer. This was the reason why I brought this to the SH thread as you were being unreasonable.
Anyway, I would still like the opinion of others on this matter and perhaps widen the discussion to how we should best handle dates in the absence of an exact date being printed in a specific source. Bo Shuda (talk) 05:23, November 26, 2013 (UTC)
