Forums > Senate Hall archive > SH Archive/Displaying Images Hosted on Outside Servers- Can It Be Done?

Alrighty, I'm just curious if it's possible to have an image display properly if the image is hosted on an outside server, say Photobucket or ImageShack. If it is possible, will the usual WikiCode work, just with the image filename being replaced with the url to where the image is located? Or is there a different coding for that? ...And is that coding that "Embedded image" button I just now noticed sitting above the edit textbox? >.< If it is, I'm gonna feel really stupid, so I'll give this post another purpose...

After a quick test, I find that the "Embedded image" doesn't seem to work for images hosted elsewhere. There's gotta be a way!

Users are limited to three uploaded images maximum, unless the image is shared by articles or something. While I was just browsing through Enochf's "Happy Caption Page" late one night and going on lack of sleep, I thought "Hrm, that'd be fun to do sometime..." Now, my photo fun usually consists of Photoshop boredom, word balloons and the like. If the images were hosted elsewhere, would that still count to the User Maximum? • I believe it is possible on a wiki but many here would likely tell you that they want to set a precedent and don't want to see image hosting. -- Riffsyphon1024 03:19, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
    • We used to be able to, but it tended to get used for vandalism more often than not. You can still link to an image, but it won't be embedded in the page. —Silly Dan (talk) 03:59, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
      • Makes sense. Just wanted to check anyway. Trak Nar Ramble on 04:06, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
        • If you look at my userpage, it still has a photobucket image embedded in the page. *EDIT* Posted the link here, and it works here too, but I removed it because it's annoying. —Xwing328(Talk) 17:13, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
