Their should be a downloadable program with all the articles and characters for viewable on computers that can't be hooked up to the internet and updated for it each week Unsigned comment by (talk • contribs).

  • An interesting idea, but I'm afraid it's a bit impractical. Last time I downloaded it, the database of just the current versions of all the pages was 138 megabytes. Not including any page histories or images. The pictures must take an even more impressive amount of space. Might be workable for a small number of articles, but not all the articles. -- Darth Culator (Talk)(Kills) 00:33, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
    • Maybe in the future we could work on a print version of Wookieepedia, much like the 0.5 project going on at Wikipedia. But we haven't been around long enough for that. .... 00:51, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
      • You can download a page going to "File" and then "Save page as..." and then choose "whole page" or something like that. :) Darth Jenny Rose 03:59, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

Downloading a Wookiepedia could work, but its better if we could create a mass production of Cd's, that we could send to subscribers. I know it would be hard for the administrators and creators, but it could boost popularity and stock for Wikipedia and its Foundation. I approve of an installable Wookiepedia Unsigned comment by Master Mace (talk • contribs).

  • I actually have the capabilities to mass produce CDs, but I'm still not convinced this would be the best thing to do. —Xwing328(Talk) 04:10, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
    • I could probably do it, but it would take so many CD's that it would probably be a waste. HappyTimeHarry 04:23, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
      • Obviously, if we did this (which I'm still not sure about), there would be a cost to make up for time and expenses. I say we try to work out the legalities with a t-shirt first though. —Xwing328(Talk) 06:02, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
        • First of all, selling anything is totally out of the question. A pack of rabid Lucasfilm lawyers would be all over us like vultures to roadkill. I mean, if you think about it, they're being nice to us as it is- I'm sure they make a case for a whole heckuva lot of copyright violations if they really wanted to, especially with many of the more dubiously-public-domain pictures. Charging money for something related to Star Wars is just what we don't need. --Thetoastman 07:05, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
          • The last thing we really need is a Cease and Desist. -- Riffsyphon1024 07:15, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
            • That's why I'm still not comfortable with this idea. —Xwing328(Talk) 07:29, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
              • I was against this the last time it was brought up, and my feelings on the matter haven't changed. Wikipedia can get away with it due to the fact that their articles cover a whole variety of subjects, while we're limited to LFL's intellectual property. We're lucky LFL let us get this far without a cease and thoughts are that publishing a or CD print version would be pushing our good fortune. StarNeptuneTalk to me! 07:36, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
                • While I totally agree with you with what concerns LFL copyright, I'd advise you not to use the term "intellectual property". It's misleading at best, deliberately invented for POV-pushing at worst. RMS advises against it. - Sikon 09:51, 24 December 2006 (UTC)
