On the article for Gil "Drifter" Viray I've brought up the issue of this having to be moved a list of fanon characters, or marked as definitively non-canon. My comments have gone unanswered, and I have yet to be shown any actual official source making any mention of Drifter, and as far as I can tell, the actor and fans have created the character's name and callsign. I know this may not be the place for this but since no one has come up with a sourse yet, I wanted to ask here. I'm not sure why this one aggravates me, but it's simply not canon. There's no need to keep the "This article may be fanon" tag, as it is all ready known to be fanon. Does anyone out there have a source? --JMM 18:01, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

  • This is fanon. The name was invented by the actor and is not official. We'd better remove it or change the name into 'Unknown X-Wing Pilot' or something like that.--Sompeetalay 19:50, 22 September 2006 (UTC)
    • Or move it to John Chapman and rewrite? —Silly Dan (talk) 20:54, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
      • That may be a better idea. Starting an "unknown X-wing pilot" article with that photo attached would just open things up to create a page for every single pilot glimpsed in that briefing room scene! Unknown pilot #1, Unknown pilot #2... --JMM 12:50, 25 September 2006 (UTC)

A few options here:

  • I think I like that third option. That page may be a good idea. Even if someone goes crazy and screengrabs the whole briefing room scene and crops new images out of each pilot. And maybe I'm wrong, but as far as I can tell, none of the pilots seen in the briefing room are actually seen flying in the battle scene later on.--JMM 19:49, 28 September 2006 (UTC)
    • Also, creating a John Chapman page explaining all this would be a good idea. And the name Drifter can be redirected there. This would help end some of the confusion. --JMM 13:51, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
      • I concur. —Silly Dan (talk) 18:55, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
        • What shall we do know? Viray still exists as a page.--Sompeetalay 21:10, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
          • It's at Unnamed Yavin Rebel pilot now. If JMM and Sompeetalay could rewrite what I have there, that would be good. John Chapman is a separate page, so if you could add information there too, that would be even better. —Silly Dan (talk) 21:37, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
