"I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wookieepedian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and vote pages using three tildes, like this: DarthMRN. Four tildes (DarthMRN 08:05, 10 November 2006 (UTC)) produces your name and the current date."

This is what the welcome notice says. Wikipedia's general policy is that you can use both, but that the Four Tildes version is preferrable. However, it seems that, on Wookieepedia, neglecting use of the final tilde is grounds for bandom. Be that as it may, I'm not going to argue administrative desicions. I do, however, suggest that the welcome notice is edited to represent the Four Tilde Policy is stead of contradicting it.DarthMRN 08:05, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

  • I'm actually shocked that Sikon would go so far as to threaten a block for this. As you point out, the welcome message makes it clear that three tildes are a legit possibility. We of course really prefer four tildes (in Fourdot's case, *REALLY* prefer four tildes ;-) ), but I've never seen it backed by anything more than gentle social pressure before. jSarek 11:07, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
    • I already edited the welcome notice to eliminate the mention of three tildes. (Remember, we {{subst:}} these things.) So if anyone who was welcomed before July 19 was ever banned for such a reason, I'd unban them. -- Darth Culator (Talk)(TINC) 13:59, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
      • Finally! I believe I proposed this in the past, and if not... well, I meant to. :-P -- Ozzel 20:58, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
        • Four tildes are the cornerstone of a tidy wiki. .... 00:43, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
            • As I say in my signature, tildes are your friends. :) -- Riffsyphon1024 05:20, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
