Is it possible to place a "featured GA", as it were, on the main page. Just a link to a GA would be fine, not the entire article. The box could go under the WotM, as we seem to have space for rent there. Darth Seth (Imperial Commander) 16:28, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

  • I think this was mentioned before, and I still like the idea. GA could definitely use the attention given by a link on the Main Page. —Xwing328(Talk) 20:59, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
    • i think that is a good idea, however, something similar to the inq would have to be set up to deal with GAs. Not a full body like the inq, but maybe one or two inqs/admins who make sure fiascos like what happened yesterday with the Jedi Order AckbarSig TheOne&OnlyAdmirableAckbar (It's A Trap!) 21:06, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
      • It wouldn't take a committee for the GA. It would take a voting page or something to put GAs on a queue. -Fnlayson 21:19, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
        • It wouldn't take any of that imo, just a simple link on the main page. —Xwing328(Talk) 21:35, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
          • But you'd want to rotate the link every so often. I guess a random GA selection for each week would work. -Fnlayson 23:22, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
            • No, again, all I'm talking about is a link to the main Good Articles page. Sorry if I wasn't clear. —Xwing328(Talk) 18:11, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
            • I just added it. It's very unobtrusive, so I can't see it being a problem. —Xwing328(Talk) 18:14, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
              • Right. But I thought the question was about linking to a particular "GA of the week/month/?" on the main page, not the Good Articles page. -Fnlayson 18:19, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
              • In any event, the link to the Good Articles page is a good addition. Thanks. -Fnlayson 18:22, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
                • Even better, how about a GA of the Day queue/random selection? Seems to me that it wouldn't be that hard to set up, and since there are a good deal more GAs then FAs, we can have it set for daily rotation without repeats for a good long while.--Goodwood 18:52, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
                  • I believe there's roughly the same amount of GA's as FA's, but you've got the right idea. GA of the week, or something similiar, should suffice :) Maybe not as big as the FA on the main page, but a link or some sort should be possible. Greyman(Paratus) 22:06, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
                  • i agree, but I still stand by my suggestion of having someone who "looks after" the GA nom page. If GAs are to be linked to the main page, then the whole system needs to be properly enforced, as most people are unsure of the process. (the one week thing, etc...). I think a panel of say, 2 or 3 inqs/admins who update the GA nom page when an article reaches five votes, and then choose which GAs get linked to the main page would be a good idea. • Do we really need more staff to oversee something like this, though? Well, probably, since the GA nomination page seems to be a bit on the clogged side at the moment. This user could imagine it being a "ladder" position within the hierarchy - the lowest rung therein, anyway - which isn't that bad an idea. Not even bad... ;o)--Goodwood 23:14, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
                      • No additional levels of bureaucracy. Just find an admin who'll adopt it. Gonk (Gonk!) 23:18, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
                        • Per Gonk, heh :D Greyman(Paratus) 23:19, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
                          • Just my imagination running away with me. Trying to appease Ackbar, I was...didn't really want the extra level anyway.--Goodwood 23:22, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
                    • I like the randomizer idea if it is not too much trouble to set-up. It would take someone(s) to added GAs to a list like with the Search box icons. -Fnlayson 04:44, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
                      • That could most likely be done. We may need a Consensus Track to adopt the proposal, formatting for use on the Main Page, etc. —Xwing328(Talk) 22:19, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
  • I'm all for the idea of a semi-featured GA. A couple of months ago we had some discussion on a similar idea which, since I'm a lazy bastard, I never got around to taking as far as a CT. Green Tentacle (Talk) 08:49, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
