Hey guys. I don't know if we have anything formally set up for an odd number occasion like this, but today is Wookieepedia's 7th birthday. Everyone pat yourselves on the back. Founded March 4, 2005, we have continued to grow at an good pace, reaching a staggering number of 90,000 articles, with only the likes of other fan wikis like WoWWiki and Marvel Wiki ahead of us from what I understand. Granted article counts are not the true measure of a wiki, but the quality of its content. I'm glad to see that we have greatly expanded the number of Featured Articles, Good Articles, and Comprehensive Articles across the wiki, especially from WookieeProjects and our recent Barn-Burners and Shed-Scorchers. Growth of the wiki has not been limited to strictly the English language either, as Wookieepedia has spread into 26 additional languages. I am proud to have been a part of this wiki and the projects within. We shall continue to document the universe around us as we have and remain ever neutral in matters of canon conflicts. As evident this weekend with the passing of Ralph McQuarrie, people do move on to the Force, but Star Wars is not dead. As long as information continues to flow, we will be there to share that with the world. -- Riffsyphon1024 07:46, March 4, 2012 (UTC)
- Very well said, Riff. I, too, am proud to have been a part of this wiki, in whatever small way. It's a good feeling to know we've built something that LFL themselves respect and rely upon in their own project, the continued expansion of the galaxy we all love. Here's to all of the editors who have made this possible, and to seven more good years! ~Savage 16:55, March 4, 2012 (UTC)
- Bravo, Riff! As far as I have seen Wookieepedia has the highest quality of any wiki out there, while some complain about the many rules of the site, I see them as the reason for our success. Thank you for you hard work in starting the site those seven years ago!--Exiled Jedi (Greetings) 17:21, March 4, 2012 (UTC)
- \o/ Happy birthday, Wookieepedia. 1358 (Talk) 18:06, March 4, 2012 (UTC)
- Everything that has transpired has done so according to OUR design! Mwuahahahaha! User:PalpatinePowah
- The rules may be a pain to some, but that is what has built us such a great wiki. Happy birthday, old Wook!—Cal Jedi (Personal Comm Channel) 03:07, March 5, 2012 (UTC)
- Rules=pain. Pain=hard work. Hard work=Wookieepedia. Wookieepedia=success. Rules=success. XD Very proud to have been a member of this site for almost 3.5 years now, and a productive editor for about 1.5 years. We disagree, we argue, and we get cross sometimes, but we are all a community with one common goal, and I don't think I need to state it again. Happy birthday to Wookieepedia, to us. Let's usher in another 7 years of relentless productivity, but most importantly, joy in writing, reviewing, and perfecting what we love. :) MasterFred(Whatever) 14:54, March 5, 2012 (UTC)
