In many infoboxes, such as the weapon infobox, there is an entry for culture and an entry for affiliation. Culture says, "List the cultures that used the weapon or cultures in which it is otherwise prominent." Affiliation says "List the governments and major organizations that used the weapon here." What's the clear difference between a "culture" and a "major organization?"--Richterbelmont10 (come in R2!) 17:31, July 29, 2013 (UTC)
- A culture could be a species, a planet's population, or any other sort of cultural group --- a Gaderffii stick, for example, belongs to the Tusken Raider culture, but the Tuskens don't really have a formal organization to which the weapon belongs. The E-11 blaster rifle, on the other hand, definitely does belong to a formal organization --- ie, the Stormtrooper Corps of the Galactic Empire. A weapon could easily fall under both categories --- Mandalorian armor, for example, could list "Mandalorians" under culture and "Mandalorian Crusaders (among other organizations)" under affiliation. Does that make any sense? Menkooroo (talk) 00:45, July 30, 2013 (UTC)
- Great stuff. Where would a weapon used by "assassins" be under? They're not really a culture, but do they have a formal organization? Sometimes they do, but many assassins are just individual guns-for-hire, working solo.--Richterbelmont10 (come in R2!) 01:14, July 30, 2013 (UTC)
- Hmmm... if the assassin belonged to the Assassin's Guild or something, you could put that under "Affiliation," but if they're just freelancers, then yeah, probably leave it blank. Probably best to leave "culture" blank, too --- there will be some situations where neither field is applicable, and that's totally OK. Menkooroo (talk) 02:14, July 30, 2013 (UTC)
- What about weapons favored by bounty hunters? Affiliation?--Richterbelmont10 (come in R2!) 04:41, July 30, 2013 (UTC)
