Okay. This needs to be sorted out now before we go and screw up everything and have a civil war on our hands. There seems to be a bit of confusion with Image Policy. So, I think we have this straightend out immediatly. As of now, the de facto policy is promotional, movie (if from movie), latest in timeline appearance. Now here is where we have a bit of confusion. The classical characters (Han Solo, Princess Leia, and Luke Skywalker) all have images from A New Hope and so the point was raised that their images should be from Return of the Jedi or even from the new comics out. So, what do we do about this? So, I say we hold a vote and set up a guideline system (like most important it is a live shot not CGI or art). --RedemptionTalk Uglykotoricon 21:05, 12 September 2006 (UTC)

  • Anyone from a New Hope Has to have a main image from A NEW HOPE, besides Darth Vader. the Main new characters from ESB, Yoda and Lando, should do the same. ROTJ's Jabba the Hutt is a must as his main image. Those are required. others like Nute Gunray, That is in dispute. I think It should be in the form of there most MEMORIBLE version. Not newest. --Jabbathehuttgartogg Jabba'sDesilijicClanTattoo-SWFF Jabba'sDesilijicClanTattoo-SWFF 21:34, 12 September 2006 (UTC)
  • But certain characters like Padme, are most memorable in her full Queen makeup. While in makeup, it's not her. It's impossible to see the actual facial features. Also, memorable is in the eye of the beholder. Obviously major characters are memorable but a character like Gunray isn't. --RedemptionTalk Uglykotoricon 23:09, 12 September 2006 (UTC)
    • That picture of Padme is from Revenge of the Sith, meaning it's her most recent image. Shouldn't the main images for Luke, Han, and Leia be changed then since their appearances do change, especially Luke Skywalker's appearance. Jaina SoloGoddess StuffJbig3 00:48, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
    • I think Iconic appearances should be used for the main boxes -Luke in Moisture Farmer gear, ROTJ-era Jabba, Padme-as-queen, etc. We can put in later/older pics as they relate to where they changed appearances, ie. Luke's black Jedi togs from ROTJ, or the three phases of C-3PO's developement ("naked", grey, and gold). For Iconic, it helps to think "What is the first image that comes to mind when someone mentions the character?"Tocneppil 02:02, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
      • I agree.--Darth OblivionComlinkSith Emblem 02:07, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
        • Unfortunatly, that's in the eye of the beholder what is most memorable. Not everyone will think Revenge of the Sith when they say Palpatine but rather ROTJ or even TPM. --RedemptionTalk Uglykotoricon 03:30, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
          • True, but in Palpy's case he's best-known as clad in his black cloak as Emperor, and as portrayed by McDiarmid -does anyone prefer his appearance as the giant holographic head in ESB? You have a point with favourites, though (McGregor vs Guiness, anyone?) and perhaps a vote could be used where consensus can't be reached.Tocneppil 03:57, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
  • Why do we need to be this specific about which image is the primary image? I think we should favor live-action images (be it from a movie, video-game cutscene, SWCCG card, or whatever) over other images, but other than that, we should pick whatever seems like the *best* picture, be it most aesthetically pleasing, most iconic, first appearance, or whatnot. If there's a dispute, leave it to the consensus to decide which picture is best. jSarek 23:37, 15 September 2006 (UTC)
            • I vote for the most "recent" image of the chracters, as an in-universe reader wouldn't necessarily think of, for intance, the ROTJ Jabba, when they think of Jabba. Adamwankenobi 01:10, 16 September 2006 (UTC)
  • Total agreement with jSarek. Havac 03:22, 16 September 2006 (UTC)
  • I'd still have to go with the more famous costumes and appearences. --Jabbathehuttgartogg Jabba'sDesilijicClanTattoo-SWFF Jabba'sDesilijicClanTattoo-SWFF 01:51, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
    • I would have to go with Jabba here, the promo pic of Obi-Wan onboard the inivisble hand is more iconic, seen most of (becaues it is the latest film), and it is clear and not grainy, unlike the current Alec Guinness shot. Don't get me wrong, I like Alec. But Ewan has the better and clearer shots. Nom Callide 06:51, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
      • Iconic is used in many Real-world encyclopedias. Entries for Winston Churchill, say, or Pope John-Paul II show both as they're best known publicly. Also, the issue of canon could apply in this case, as Lucas has stated that what happens in the films takes precedence over what is written in the books (although I'm sure many would debate this point), images from the films would be the better choice.Tocneppil 18:33, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
