Wookiepedia features many articles about the books the informations are from. As a german reader I often want to read those, but have little trouble to find them, because translated versions always get renamed. So what would you think of adding the translated names to the articles? (For example "The book bla was released in 1999. In France it was published under the name...") Would be easier for foreign users, to follow the storyline in general. Especially Comics are hard to find, if you only know the english names. (I've been searching for months, how Twin Engines Of Destruction was named in Germany and found nothing..) Unsigned comment by 80.136.32.23 (talk • contribs).

  • Twin Engines of Destruction was published as "Doppelte Zerstörung" in the official German SW magazine ("Star Wars - Das offizielle Magazin") issues 4 - 7. It really can be hard to find out the German titles if you don't have a clue where it was published. I don't know any lists with all translated titles, I guess the easiest way would be to ask in online forums like http://www.projektstarwars.de/forum .--Craven 14:06, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
  • Thanks for the help! But my idea was, if those names could be added to the article about those books or comics. I'm sure there are pretty many foreign people using this, as wookiepedia also is more complete then any other Star Wars wiki. Unsigned comment by 80.136.32.23 (talk • contribs).
    • We have language versions for people whose native language is other than English. Although... I suppose your idea has merit. Wikipedia does that in some cases. - Sikon (Vacation) 17:27, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
      • I think its a good idea but what languages would be included? Ugluk 22:30, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
        • Perhaps add a section to the infobox for this information, and then include all known reprint titles? Star Wars gets translated into a lot of languages, but not so many as to make including the alternate titles unwieldy. jSarek 09:45, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
          • I'd say at least the "bigger" languages, in which books likely get translated. For example French, German, perhaps Italian..
            • Over at the German Jedipedia, we include the original English title, publisher and year of publication into our "book infoboxes". In addition, as soon as we publish a new article about a (German) Star Wars book, we add an inter-wiki link to the corresponding Wookieepedia article about the English book - as well as a link on Wookieepedia to the German book on Jedipedia. Some ambitous authors are working on a complete list of SW books available in German so far. It will take some more time, but we already got a number of articles about books or even about entire series. If you read an article about an interesting book here on Wookieepedia, check out if there is a "Deutsch" link in the lower section of the left main menue - it will lead you to the corresponding German title and article.RC-9393 11:15, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
