Do we want to put links to the fanon wiki in the external links of articles? For examples, see the external links on the Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi pages. On one hand, it is promoting the fanon wiki, but on the other hand, it's also more than likely linking to someone's fanon version of that character, since on the fanon wiki, the person who creates the article has "ownership" of it. I don't know, what do you think? StarNeptuneTalk to me! 02:08, 9 July 2006 (UTC)

  • I'm against it. I don't think links to fanon particularly add anything positive to Wookieepedia. -- Ozzel 02:16, 9 July 2006 (UTC)
  • I'm also against it. Like Ozzel said, they're not beneficial, and could potentially confuse people. RMF 02:33, 9 July 2006 (UTC)
  • I like the fanon wiki, in principle. However, I'm afraid this doesn't seem like a really good idea to me. Other non-official external links (like a fansite) might contain additional canon information, essays on a character's significance in canon, more multimedia, etc. Even a fan fiction archive, fan listing , or popular parody blog would help show a character's impact on the real world, or on the fandom. However, a fanon wiki link, in addition to causing possible confusion between our two wikis, would give only one fanon version of a character. This would be akin to linking to one fanfic — not necessarily a popular one or a good one, for that matter. (Besides, one possible way the fanon wikians might let multiple authors do contradictory fanon bios for a character would be to include two separate articles: which one would we link to?) —Silly Dan (talk) 03:13, 9 July 2006 (UTC)
  • Against. That would only open up a doorway for them to assume we support their fanon. -- Riffsyphon1024 09:10, 9 July 2006 (UTC)
  • Also against. I'm glad we have the fanon wiki as an outlet for our more creative folks, but links to it are unnecessary and unhelpful to people seeking facts, which is what most of our readership are hear for. jSarek 08:13, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
