Just so everyone is informed, I am in the process of semi-protecting a good portion of Wookieepedia's more widely used templates. To leave them without protection against vandalism is remarkable silly, given that, for example, our infobox templates are used across hundreds of articles. Furthermore, there is no reason for an anon or a newly registered user to be messing with templates like infoboxes. If they're from another wiki and here to borrow code, they can still transfer the code to their own wiki using "view source". Who will this affect? Nobody, unless you're an anon or newly registered user intent on vandalizing Wookieepedia by attacking some of the templates.
Here are the ones that will be protected in the next day or so:
All maintenance templates.
All usertalk templates.
If other admins wish to hop on and semi-protect some of the other ones, that's fine with me. Just like with our MediaWiki pages, these are obvious vandalism targets and this is a preemptive measure to protect the templates from irritating vandalism like what we recently saw.
NOTE: Whether or not the templates listed above are semi-protected is not up for discussion. This is simply a notice. I've already discussed it in IRC and feel this is common sense. Feel free to post thoughts and/or complaints below. Atarumaster88(Talk page) 16:46, 18 July 2008 (UTC)
Makes complete sense to me. I figured they were semi-protected already anyway. - JMASHey, it's me! 17:04, 18 July 2008 (UTC)
Actually, the construction templates (slf, slh, pl, plh, etc.) should probably be fully protected, I just haven't gotten around to it. I'll make a list in the next day or so and take care of it. -- Darth Culator(Talk) 00:26, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
