Forums > Senate Hall archive > SH Archive/Novel, movie article titles in italics?

I see that all the novel, movie, and even video game names are in italics, at least in the first sentence where they are also boldened. The thing I cannot see is that the article names are in italics, too. Do they have to be? - TopAce 18:16, 18 June 2006 (UTC)

  • Not really, just in bold. Jasca Ducato 18:22, 18 June 2006 (UTC)
    • I'm pretty sure precedent dictates that book and movie titles should always be in italics, and article names mentioned for the first time in the first sentence should always be bolded. If a phrase falls under both criteria, it should be formatted both ways. I'm not sure about video games, though- I've seen them in italics and not, but I don't know what the correct way is. --Thetoastman 07:11, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
      • The way it works is complete works are italicized, and parts of such a work are put in quotation marks. Thus, movies, TV show episodes, books, comics, video games, and magazines are italicised, but individual TV episodes, short stories, and articles are put in quotation marks. jSarek 08:01, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
