IT'S A GREAT IDEA. Unsigned comment by A-17 (talk • contribs).

  • I HAVE to agree with A-17. - Patricknoddy The Jedi Council 22:47, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
    • Well, I HAVE to disagree with A-17. jSarek 00:48, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
  • Why do some users want videos so much, it would ruin our chee. Besides, we shouldn't have videos about users, remember this is the Star Wars wikia? Warfighter 02 (comlink active) 6:42, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
    • Such topic titles aren't tolerated on many forums, especially on a wiki. This should be considered a misconduct and a bannable offense. I don't see why people use three-hundred dozen exclamation and question marks on the Internet. If you are above 6, you should consider this. One exclamation mark is enough. - TopAce 13:49, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
        • Not to mention the fact A-17 misspelled "videos", which should be bannable all on its own... I agree on the Exclamation marks though, completely unnecessary.--Hencho414 13:57, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
        • Nice Ace. True, very true. Warfighter02 7:10, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
          • I think it's rather a mistyping than a misspelling. - TopAce 14:28, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
  • I think it's a great idea. Videos could help better showcase duels and battles, making them more fun to learn about.-
  • I noticed that we don't have an article for The Faithful Wookiee and that the link to the video is broken. ~Jaywin
  • No, videos are a wretched idea. Thank goodness I have DSL at long last, so it wouldn't affect me now, but for those people that are still using dialup, having videos on Wookieepedia would make it all but unusable. - JMAS 21:49, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
    • The internet is already all but unusable to dialup users. (Not that that means we should add videos.) jSarek 23:22, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
      • Plus, videos seem pretty pointless, it's a Wiki, not a TV. --Hencho414 23:25, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

I think it all depends on what kind of videos. I don't think we should have things like fan-made videos. If there were videos of actual clips of Star Wars movies or the Clone Wars or if there was an interview with George Lucas or if there was footage from a Star Wars convention or something else along these lines, I think those all would be fine. ~Jaywin

We can simply link to those videos instead of uploading them. - TopAce 11:42, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

  • Wouldn't it be easier for the user just to click on the video that is embedded within the article? For example, what would be so wrong with embedding this video in the Star Wars: Clone Wars article? I would think that users would like that feature. A section could be made down at or near the bottom of the page for this episode (and others if they're available). That way, they wouldn't be cluttering up the article for those who dislike them (and I do think they could clutter up an article if they were just stuck throughout the article), but still available (yet out of the way) for those who might enjoy them. Isn't there some kind of compromise that can be reached between those who are for and those who are against? ~ Jaywin

i have actually seen some low FR videos such as the one on bobafett's user page everyone loves videos, who doesnt? but i think that some things are just better left undone. videos may require a whole new interface, which may slow down the site server altogether. im a member of another site that did that and it was horrible! what was once a great community of people was ruined by horrible loading times, unresponsive links, and unrecived messages. plus i have to agree with certain people here. i think that putting things up like videos about users would take away from the purpose of wookiepedia, it might even become....(god forbid) a myspace!NOOOOOO! anywho. i think that what we have already is sufficient to keep us happy with what we're given. but there are SOME people *cough*A-17!*cough* that would like to ruin wookiepdia with something they generally associate w/ good feelings. belive me friends, don't be fooled by something just 'cuz it sounds good. it is as obi-wan said... "i have a bad feeling about this"
