Ok, I'm new here, not really sure how much I can add, but I'll try. However looking at some of the pages I was thinking of editing (e.g. Velker, Bespin, and several others) I've noticed that they are all written in the past tense, as if they do not exist anymore. Is there a reason for this? It seems quite strange to me... can someone clear this up for me? cheers Cncplyr 20:06, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

  • A long time ago in a galaxy far far away? -- AdmirableAckbar (Talk) 20:15, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
  • See here: Wookieepedia: Manual of Style#tense for a slightly more detailed explanation. 20:24, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
    • Ah, I figured it must have been something to do with 'A long time ago in a galaxy far far away' but was just double checking. Thank you Cncplyr 20:35, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

Hrm... I write in a past/present imperfect tense. Mostly, the article is written in the past tense, though there may be some present tense inserted into the same sentance. This is a common tense that writers often use. Is that alright? Trak Nar 05:43, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

  • Depends on how you're using it. If it's in a quote, then thats IU and it's ok, obviously. Got any examples? Darth Xadún 09:04, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
    • The entire "Biology and Appearance" section of the Rodian article is written in a past/present imperfect tense. The present tense used was only for sentances that just didn't sound right otherwise. No one has really said anything regarding the tense used in that section, and I may later make some revisions to it. Trak Nar 05:02, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
      • Trak, as an almost unwavering rule, I say no, you should never find a situation where present tense would be preferred or more proper over past tense. I've never encountered such a thing, but there's always an exception to the rule. Toprawa and Ralltiir 06:17, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
        • Hrm, I'd better pop it back into Word and do some revisions, then. Or, is the style used currently okay? Trak Nar 06:21, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
        • This is a prime example of what you should avoid: "This allows the Rodians to visually detect the body heat of their hidden prey emanating from within the darkness." Make sure you say "This allowed." If it's inconvenient for you to keep switching between Word and the Wook, feel free to make changes to the article itself. There's no limit on the number of edits you can make. :) Toprawa and Ralltiir 06:28, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
