When you type in "R2", you are brought to this disambiguation page where R2-D2 is buried in a list and you have to fish him out. I believe that most people who are looking for R2 (like I was) are looking for R2-D2, the most popular droid in Star Wars. I propose we redirect R2 to R2-D2, and create the tab, "R2 redirects here. For other uses of R2, see this disambiguation page." Thoughts?--Richterbelmont10 (talk) 17:16, July 25, 2013 (UTC)
- I disagree. They could be looking for the R2-series astromech, or any of the different R2 units. 501st dogma(talk) 17:32, July 25, 2013 (UTC)
- They could be. But I believe more often they're looking for R2.--Richterbelmont10 (talk) 17:36, July 25, 2013 (UTC)
- Pretty much as Dogma said, the whole purpose of the page is for the R2 series as a whole. And R2-D2 is really not too hard to type in if someone's looking for him. Trip391 (talk) 17:59, July 25, 2013 (UTC)
- Well, I was looking for R2-D2 and I typed in R2. I'm sure there are others like me who have typed in R2 looking for R2-D2. After all, "R2" is R2-D2's most commonly used nickname. In fact, I believe in the movies, he is referred to as "R2" way more often than "R2-D2." My idea was to make things easier for the average user. But I suppose putting R2 at the top of R2's page is better than nothing.--Richterbelmont10 (talk) 18:22, July 25, 2013 (UTC)
- I agree with some of the comments above, that we're best served catering to all of the examples of "R2" in canon, not just R2-D2. As recommended in this forum, I've added both a "youmay" template and an additional note in the article's introduction referencing R2-D2 for readers' benefit. - Looks good, thanks.--Richterbelmont10 (talk) 20:47, July 25, 2013 (UTC)
