Forums > Senate Hall archive > SH Archive/Reminder: Talk page templates

I would like to remind the other regular editors of the many wonderful templates to be found in Category:User talk templates. Some examples include (as of right now):

  • Template:W, our happy friendly welcome template. Honestly, it seems like there are only two editors using this. Come on, people: if we don't give a friendly welcome to new registered users, point them to Wookieepedia:Manual of Style, and make our talk pages available for their questions, how are we going to continue expanding and improving articles? By ourselves? 8)
  • Template:Anon: if an anon is persistently making useful or potentially useful edits, encourage them to sign up. Why? See above. Some anonymous users are helpful, knowledgable fans who just haven't come up with a good username yet.
  • Also, if Sikon were here, he'd remind you to "subst" those templates (that is, type {{subst:test1}}~~~~ rather than {{test1}}~~~~). So, please do that. Thanks. —Silly Dan (talk) 04:04, 1 June 2006 (UTC)
    • Those are helpful tips, Dan, thanks. You know, for the longest time I thought the welcome message was automatically created on people's talk page when we signed up. Shows how much I know. I'll make an effort to take advantage of those templates in future.--Rudy 06:57, 1 June 2006 (UTC)
  • Probably the reason that no one uses the welcome template is that it's impossible to figure out how to use. There really needs to be an easier way. Kuralyov 17:32, 3 June 2006 (UTC)
