If there is no republic in the outer rim how come you see Mon cal senator in Ep III in the deleted scene talking to palpatine presenting the petetion of 2000??
- Don't take Shmi's line that the "Republic doesn't exist out here" literally. The Republic does have many member worlds on the Rim, but has little to no jurisdiction in the more lawless areas. Tatooine, for example, is run by the Hutts, not the Republic. Consider also that TPM revolved around the taxation of trade routes to outlying systems, meaning the Mid and Outer Rims, so the Republic must have a presence there in order to maintain trade routes - Kwenn 17:00, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
If that is so i think we should change the wiki quote of the outer rim to something else instaed of The republic does'nt exist out here we must survive on our own.
- It can still work. It's indicative of the attitudes of the denizens of the Rim in relation to the Republic. It doesn't have to be taken literally - Kwenn 19:42, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
As i see the outer rim there a many low planets like Dathomir Dantooine and tatooine. There are also many nice ones like Telos Mon Calimari and Muunilinst. But i see what your saying the outer rim is viewed as the south no offense to the south. :P
- No, it's mainly that the outer rim is remote, away from the power center, neglected, etc.. - Finlayson 21:36, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
- Don't forget what Qui-gon said: "It's controlled by the Hutts." I'm willing to bet that after so many wars with the Sith/Mandos/You-name-it, the Republic wanted to sell worlds to pay its war debts, and the Hutts wanted to buy worlds to increase their power, even if some were well outside Hutt Space. You can fill in the rest.
I dont think thats true very much most of the outer rim is not controled by the hutts. Also as i have read the outer rim is a major part of the new republic even worlds such as gamorr become part of the new republic. Who would have guessed! :)
