I noticed in the R2-D2 article a scrolling box for his appearances. This looks great. Kudos to whoever came up with it. I have also put one into Mara Jade. Should this be implemented more widely? I think so... --Eyrezer 05:31, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

  • Yes, perhaps more like 80-85%. ;-) -- Ozzel 05:37, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
  • Yea, its a crazy concept, but so needed. -- Riffsyphon1024 05:46, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
  • Yea thanks to User:Jaymach for bringing that up here Forum:Appearances and List a couple weeks ago. - Finlayson 21:42, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
  • Looks like a cool idea. However, I think it should only be used for articles that have a long list of appearances. Adamwankenobi 21:45, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
    • That seems obvious, but yea worth mentioning just in case. -Finlayson 03:54, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
      • I made a new template to keep these scroll boxes standardized and to make the page code somewhat cleaner: {{scroll box}}. –SentryTalk 21:21, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
        • Is anyone else having problems with the scroll box? Because I've been having a lot of problems with it. Fleet Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) Imperial Emblem 23:20, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
          • What kind of problems? -- Ozzel 23:21, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
            • Well, I can't scroll down. Fleet Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) Imperial Emblem 23:22, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
              • Really? I tested it in Firefox 1.5, Opera 9, and IE 6. The template seemst to be working properly with all three browsers…–SentryTalk 00:18, 25 August 2006 (UTC)
                • Works in my browsers (Win XP SP2, Firefox, Opera 8.51 and IE 6) --Craven 15:30, 25 August 2006 (UTC)
  • So can we use the scroll box to eliminate the "list of apperances" articles.Bonko 20:02, 25 August 2006 (UTC)
    • No. Since I'm having a problem with the scroll box, we should use the "List of appearances" article rather than the scroll box. After all, how do we know that other people don't have the same problem as me? Fleet Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) Imperial Emblem 22:14, 25 August 2006 (UTC)
      • Also, Sentry, I use Internet Explorer. Fleet Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) Imperial Emblem 22:15, 25 August 2006 (UTC)
        • Hmm.. strange. A google search didn't bring up any known IE problems with this kind of scroll box. Which version of IE do you use, did you install the latest updates/patches? Have you tried clicking into the scroll box and then use the mousewheel or the arrow keys? --Craven 14:17, 26 August 2006 (UTC)
          • I have IE but I don't have any problems with the scroll box...but I'm using IE 7 Beta 3 from Microsoft. Are you using IE 6? —Mirlen 14:47, 26 August 2006 (UTC)
    • I think we should give this a little time before removing a bunch of scroll boxes. Adding List of Appearnce pages is alright. -Finlayson 02:15, 27 August 2006 (UTC)
      • How much is "a little time"? Because after all this time, it hasn't improved for me. Fleet Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) Imperial Emblem 14:23, 27 August 2006 (UTC)
        • What I mean is they should work on your problem. Not say remove all the scroll boxes right now. Also, I beleive you're the only person who has mentioned they don't work. -Finlayson 17:10, 27 August 2006 (UTC)
          • Well, even if I'm the only one having a problem with it, Jasca Ducato doesn't seem to care, as he wrote this in an edit summary on Anakin Skywalker: "revert. It may not work for you but it does't mean it doesn't work for others". Fleet Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) Imperial Emblem 19:11, 27 August 2006 (UTC)
  • I think the scrool boxes look great. If there are some problems on some browsers that should be fixed but I definitely think they should be more widely implemented. --Eyrezer 02:53, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
    • Except I can't fix the problem, meaning we either a) put in scroll boxes and I won't be able to scroll down on them, or b) remove them altogether. Fleet Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) Imperial Emblem 20:17, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
      • Well we need to figure out if this is soley your porblem first Jack, if so then we need to just solve it from your view, if not then should immplement them widely. Jedi Dude 20:28, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
        • Since it's apparently already been tested on all browsers, there must be something specific about your settings, Jack, that prevents it from working. If you want us to amend or remove the boxes, you're going to need to figure out what it is that is causing the malfunction, because there's no way for us to know otherwise since it works fine for all the rest of us. --Thetoastman 11:54, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
          • Well, I'm currently removing it from every article I see it on. I was hoping that we could just use the "List of (article name) appearances" like before instead. Fleet Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) Imperial Emblem 01:30, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

  • I've noticed the R2-D2 scrollbox is a tad narrow, cutting of a letter or two in some of the lines, is there a way to change parameter settings?Tocneppil 09:48, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
    • If it is done with the manual way, yes. If it is down wirh the scrollbox template, no. I'll take a look. -Finlayson 15:53, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
    • I widened in some. But the scroll box does not cut words off. It makes them wrap around. In this case it is text in the non-canon appearances part. -Finlayson 16:01, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
      • Missed seeing your corrections before Jack reverted it, which brings a question to mind. On my computer I get the scrollbox window with the slide-bar on the right side, which was what covered some of the letters in the non-canonical section. Now, does that slide-bar show up on all computers? Because the scrollbox on my computer won't scroll if I just move my mouse over it -the cursor has to go onto the slide-bar & I have to click and drag to scroll. I can scroll on the regular screen, but not the scrollboxes. I'm no technical whiz, but I'm wondering if maybe Jack's computer isn't allowing that slide-bar to pop up?Tocneppil 20:56, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
        • i just put my cursor in the box and hit the scroll wheel, if you dont have a scroll wheel it should still work so i dotn see whats wrong with some peoples stuff. Ugluk: Destroyer of Redlinks 01:51, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
          • I already asked Jack over on Template talk:Scroll box and he said that the scroll bar is rendering, but it still isn't scrolling.–SentryTalk 03:22, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
        • Makes me wonder if this is some javascipt problem. Like javascipt settings or an older version ot it.  ?? -Finlayson 02:24, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
          • If anything, it is a CSS compatability problem, but since Jack said that he is using the most recent build of Internet Explorer 6, I really have no idea what the problem could be.–SentryTalk 03:22, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
