After working on various TOR articles and comparing the Sith Empire presented in that game with the Empire presented in the old Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi comics, it seems clear that, while the newer Sith Empire is derived from the first, they are two totally different governments. I've arrived at the conclusion from the following evidence:
Completely different insignias of representation
Different, albeit similar, governmental structure
Completely different military and military structure
Vastly different society and culture
Totally different astrography
The Essential Atlas specifically calls the TOR Empire a "new Sith Empire," not a revitalized one.
I would be open to recombining them if any future information comes out saying "it's the same organization, just later in time," but as it stands currently, it doesn't appear that way.
I would have put this on the article's talk page, but it's been suggested there before and ignored. Also, since this is a moderatly important article, I decided to bring the proposal here. So, any objections or other thoughts on the matter, or is the split workable? Darth Trayus(Trayus Academy) 00:50, March 3, 2010 (UTC)
I beleive the creator of this page makes a good point, and I fully support him/her.
After some thought, the article would need a different name, as the Empire existed prior to the war. But for additional evidence, the official site says that the new Empire was "REBUILT BY REMNANTS OF THE ORIGINAL SITH EMPIRE"—Original Sith Empire seems to be a term used pretty often to emphasize the differences between the two. So... "Sith Empire (original)" and "Sith Empire (new)"? - Esjs(Talk) 04:44, March 3, 2010 (UTC)
I like the "Sith Empire: Great Galactic War", but Taral makes a good point. Since the Empire was rebuilding after the Great Hyperspace War, you could make a case for it being named "Sith Empire: (Sith Emperor)", or "Sith Emperor's Sith Empire".--Jedi Kasra (comlink) 14:10, March 3, 2010 (UTC)
But please no colons in the title. That is reserved for titles of books. -- Riffsyphon1024 04:54, March 5, 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, sorry about that. Wasn't paying much attantion when typing.--Jedi Kasra (comlink) 13:59, March 5, 2010 (UTC)
For now I'll go with (Great Galactic War), and if that's an issue it can be moved later. Darth Trayus(Trayus Academy) 05:54, March 5, 2010 (UTC)
After thinking about it a bit, I'm going to hold off until a few more opinions are heard. Some sources on the site seem to indicate that they are indeed the exact same, but the details indicate that they really are different. I myself am split on the split. It would be better for site organization, but I'm not so sure how it would function canonically. Thoughts? Darth Trayus(Trayus Academy) 06:46, March 5, 2010 (UTC)
Eh, whatever I just did it. I'll work on it and make any necessary moves and all in the next few days. Any help with redirects or link fixes would be greatly appreciated. Darth Trayus(Trayus Academy) 08:11, March 5, 2010 (UTC)
