Something I've been working on recently is the number of unsourced images we have.

  • At the moment we have 27,719 images uploaded.
  • Of these, 6,282 are in the unsourced category.

Many of these images can be sourced from within the Wookiee, such as where an individual is only from one source. Furthermore, because the template was added by bot, some even have the info contained on their info page. Others, of course can't be sourced solely relying on the Wookiee and need recourse to the original sources.

I thought I'd bring this up and encourage people to 1: ensure their images are properly sourced when they upload them, and 2: to work on sourcing some of the current images if they can. There is a WookieeProject here if anyone is interested in signing up. --Eyrezer 11:52, 27 August 2007 (UTC)

  • Now only 6,024 unsourced! Get on board people. If you can source 10 pictures a day we'll speed through them. --Eyrezer 10:40, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
  • Now 5924. --Eyrezer 06:55, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
  • There's uncategorised images too. -- I need a name (Complain here) 12:25, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
  • Now only 5761. --Eyrezer 10:41, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
  • 5599 --Eyrezer 06:31, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
  • 5429 I'm looking for people to commit to sourcing 10 images a day. It won't happen over night people, but it will happen! --Eyrezer 07:45, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

Do we really need sources for book or magazine covers? After all, the covers always look exactly the same, no matter what source they come from. --Craven 19:28, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

  • Yes we do. For images of magazine, book or comic covers, you can just put "Cover image" or "Identifiable character cover image" in the description part of the infobox, and then the book title in the source spot. - JMAS 01:36, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
    • It is also important to do it this way for future bot work. so that the images won't get classified as "No source" at a later date. --Eyrezer 03:22, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
      • Is there any reason why this isn't an official ongoing Wookieeproject? - JMAS 04:04, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
  • It is not so simple when non-US book covers (generally Japanese) or obscure versions are used. -Fnlayson 04:43, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
  • JMAS, you mean other than the one already linked to at the top of the page? --Eyrezer 08:13, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
    • I was more thinking along the lines of an official Wookieeproject, like the NEGTC one, etc. But the more I think about it, the more I see it's not necessary as long as a few of us just commit to checking that Category page every so often to make sure it's kept up with. - JMAS 20:55, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
  • Now 4835. --Eyrezer 03:45, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
  • Now 4594. --Eyrezer 05:22, 8 September 2007 (UTC)
  • Now 4029. From what I can tell, we need a person to focus on sourcing KOTOR I&II images. --Eyrezer 05:26, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
  • Now 3480. --Eyrezer 01:26, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
  • Now 2992! Broken the 3k mark, guys. --Eyrezer 09:31, 15 September 2007 (UTC)
  • Now 2673. --Eyrezer 08:21, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
  • Now 2333. --Eyrezer 09:11, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
  • Now 2049. We're averaging around 146 a day. --Eyrezer 06:06, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
  • Now 1857. --Eyrezer 05:52, 27 September 2007 (UTC)
  • Now 1648. --Eyrezer 13:25, 28 September 2007 (UTC)
  • Now 1498. --Eyrezer 22:53, 30 September 2007 (UTC)
  • Now 1310. --Eyrezer 06:10, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
  • Now 1195. For those that like the KOTOR games, there are about 30 images here that are from one of the games, and I'm not sure which. Anyone with expert knowledge can have a go. Thanks. --Eyrezer 12:07, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
  • I don't want to seem like a killjoy, but Special:Uncategorizedimages is also overflowing with unsourced images. -- Darth Culator (Talk) 17:39, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
    • Lol. We're aware of that. The question is at what point do we re-run the bot and bloat the category again! It will be a pyschological blow that is for sure :P Perhaps at 1000. --Eyrezer 22:09, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
  • Now 1071. --Eyrezer 07:50, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
    • I've already started re-programming Whistler for this, so you better hurry up and hit 1,000 :P —Xwing328(Talk) 15:22, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
      • Alright, we're now ready for full bot running. --Eyrezer 05:55, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

Round TwoEdit

Ok, so Xwing has begun to run the bot through untagged images. So far Whistler is up to the letter "F" and we are holding up pretty well.

  • Now 1101 images. --Eyrezer 11:44, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
    • I think the bot must be missing stuff, if we've only picked up that many so far. jSarek 12:09, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
      • I'm going very slowly, skipping anything with {{User on it, and sourcing quite a few of them (especially the books) myself as I go. —Xwing328(Talk) 21:38, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
      • So, it turns out you're right JSarek. Images like File:018 copy.jpg that don't have anything at all on their page can't be fixed by the bot. I guess we'll have to get all those from the uncategorized images category once we're done sourcing all that we can. —Xwing328(Talk) 21:52, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
      • Alright, we're up to the Ka's. Eyrezer, this may be a stupid question, but how do you do your count of the images? —Xwing328(Talk) 23:12, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
        • I wish there was an easier way to do it, but I just count how many 200 image pages there are and do the math. :) --Eyrezer 01:15, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
  • Now 1245 --Eyrezer 05:28, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
  • Now 1142 --Eyrezer 00:04, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
  • Now 983. I've also started a page with unsourced images sorted by user, if you want to check if you've uploaded any images needing work. It is here. If you do source an image, please remove it from the page. --Eyrezer 06:28, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
  • Now 1043. Not quite a consistant pattern this time :) --Eyrezer 22:41, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
  • Now 903. Whistler is up to the letter "P" on this second run through. --Eyrezer 22:52, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
  • Now 804 --Eyrezer 00:46, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
  • Now 755 --Eyrezer 23:35, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
